This thread is unreadable on boards for me so I'll leave this here. I know it's from last time but all the same.

In fairness there's nearly always an innocent explanation for these things

Trump says he will take back sovereignty while in Ireland it's frowned upon.

Aye it's no big deal, I do it to my kids as I drop them at the school gate so they know I love them so much.

Is Musk a Nazi? Probably not. Is he a wannabe edgelord with zero self esteem? 100%, to the point where his fragile ego couldn't handle taking a bit of stick online that he purchased a maxed out video game account to try and claim he's one of the best in the world.

He done a Nazi salute because he thinks it's funny.

The other thing, now, is that the Democratic party are not going to make any effort to truly evolve. It's just going to be another case of standing by, expecting for the US's pendulum politics to continue and for another Trump term to bring the electorate out in a bit less than four years time.

I don't agree with the method, but Newt Gingrich really was effective in 2008 when he devised the strategy of total opposition in the wake of Obama taking office. The Democrats are going to need a similar sea change in their thinking.

Apparently God saved him so the taliban could get their hands on these innocent people.

He's a white supremacist, that much is clear from his Twitter activity over the last year.

It's going to get nasty over there. I think the problem is that migration has been an issue that no one would deal with has resulted in a lot of resentment taking hold. The pendulum is has now swung back the other way with the proposed major clampdown.

This term I suspect will change American government a lot more than his first

Trump to journalist - “Is Spain a BRICS nation?

    Journalist - What?

Trump - I know what a BRICS nation is, you will figure it out.

    -

But Trump sounded like more than a bit silly, as the “S” in BRICS is not Spain, but South Africa. How does he think Spain is a BRICS nation ?? It makes no sense.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

The US has mutated into a total mess …. a mess that has been coming for years …. we are in their era of Caligula/Nero or the Wars of the Roses/Tudor era …. an era of chaos, excess and instability …. all empires fall from grace and this is the turn of the American one ….

When you look at the other powers in the world that are the equal of the US you see consistency …. Putin's Russia has a consistent view of the world and stays with it ….. Xi's China has a consistent view of the world and stays with it ….. the US and thus most of the West sees chaos ….. every time an American president changes policy gets reversed …. deals broken ….. risky policy adopted …. and the rest of the world is laughing at it ….. especially Russia and China ….. no one sees them as trustworthy and they are like a so-called 'friend' who blows hot and cold !! ….

Over the last 8 years ….. 4 each from different administrations ….. there was big talk and nothing truly positive or great was done …. only expansion of wars in the world ….. big talk is all we hear ….. the last 3 inauguration speeches were big on big talk ….. followed by chaos ….. especially when both parties controlled different parts of government ….

When one president's positive policy is reversed by another's negative policy ….. when 2 parties cannot put country before party ….. when foreign warmongering against Iran means more to the regime than jobs for the people ….. and when the interests of big tech billionaires are put before education, health and the rule of fair law ….. then that country has failed ….. democracy has failed ….. and suddenly the one party rule of a Putin or a Xi or a Saddam Hussein looks better ….

As it stands the US is the world's premier failed democracy …. and this has its roots in their godawful 2 party system where the 2 parties have divided the people dangerously ….. this division may have been accelerated by 9/11, the Iraq war and so-called 'Tea Party' extremism ….. it may have been furthered by social media conspiracy theories ….. but it has placed the US into a dangerous decline ….. a civil war, a breakup of the country and a lawlessness could creep into this place before long ….. the only way it can be saved is if the Republican and Democratic parties are disbanded and replaced with 4-5 parties with a coalition system of government ….. extremism aka far right has lead America down a dangerous path and both parties are far right these days ….. both will deny it but their warmongering acts of the last number of decades proves it and that they are NOT on the side of the people ….. when each president comes out on inauguration day pretending to be on the side of the people …… they lie …..

Great to see some common sense returning to the position of the President of the US.

He is putting America his country first, like any good leader should do.

Fix your own countrys problems first before going out and helping the world or other people.

Ireland could learn a thing or 2 from Trump but it's such a pity the amount of people with TDS walking around wishing that the shooter didn't miss in his assasination attempt.

Ireland desperatley needs to do more to look after it's own first (Irish citizens - before anyone attempts to call me racist).

The asylum system needs to change, spend more housing our own people and less on housing every Tom, Dick & Harry that come here.

Well that was one crazy press conference as he signed all those orders. Pardoning 1500 January 6th rioters, TikTok, Threatening to send troops into Mexico. Taking back Panama Canal. Going to get Denmark to give them Greenland. Clearly sees the US and NATO as different and wants them to up spending to 5% and rebalance the 200bn extra the US has given in aid to Ukraine or "there is a big ocean between us". Leaving the WHO. Announcing he is thinking of a 100% tariffs against Spain and the other Brics countries for what they are planning to do against the US. Big tariffs on the EU unless the EU buy energy from the US.

But the two stand out WTF!!! Moments were then he said North Korea has great potential for condos because it has lots of sea front land. And then the fact that Gaza is destroyed and all the people are dead means it has great development potential with seafront land.

    We're screwed as a planet.

    There is.

There are four pages of Presidential orders to be found here, that's one of them. Though why MLK Day isn't already a Federal Holiday, I've no clue.

    https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/

As with any political statements, I suggest reading the details of them, not just the titles. (NORTHCOM are going to be busy)

    For @MisterAnarchy and @Snake Plisken

Well boys, Day 1 and Nazi salutes, reducing access to women's reproductive rights, pulling out of the WHO and stopping regulations are the main events.

This isolationism ends in conflict, you know that, don't you? Maybe not this year, or this term, but that's what isolation leads to and it's the path the UK and now the US has chosen.

Tell Me how does all this make America Great, or safe?

Remember the whole "Drain the Swamp", 3 of the richest people on the planet sat in prominent roles at today's show.

MAGA'ts got played, the upsetting thing is they're dragging everyone else down with them.

Yeah but something, something, transgender, something, something, win.

That's about the level of politics you're dealing with.

Well, its been a helluva day. Ole Bonespurs has been scratching away with his sharpie pen to beat the band.

But I hope that his friends the Justices of the Supreme Court aren't going to regret swearing him in earlier, because pretty well everything he has signed in the last few hours is going to be going in front of them as challenge cases for the next 2 years.

And just to deal with them, the SC are going to have to order suspensions of a lot of what he's doing, just so they get a chance to catch up and properly consider each case.

    Unsure, but I suspect not.

The list of Biden executive orders rescinded is in this Trump executive order.

    https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/initial-rescissions-of-harmful-executive-orders-and-actions/

There appear to be two which relate to Medicare, which I looked up

    https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/DCPD-202200925/pdf/DCPD-202200925.pdf

    https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/DCPD-202100099/pdf/DCPD-202100099.pdf

Neither of them actually do anything about lowering prescription drug costs. What they do do is instruct people to look into ways of doing it. For example, "

"In furtherance of the policy set forth in section 1 of this order, the Secretary shall, consistent with the criteria set out in 42 U.S.C. 1315a(b)(2), consider whether to select for testing by the Innovation Center new health care payment and delivery models thatwould lower drug costs"

I suspect actually changing the price of drugs is going to take Congressional action.

The link you post (Actually, the same poster's second post on the thread) cites the first of the two Biden EOs I refer to. The post does not attempt to explain how it affects the price of medicare. I strongly suspect he got as far as reading the title of the EO, and made an assumption. You can read the text for yourself.

    Yes.

Basically on day 1 he’s done all the made **** that he always said he would. Half of it will get kicked out by federal courts, but he’s living up to his promises this time.

This time there is nothing to stop him, or even worse, and his cronies.

    they/them/theirs

The more you can increase fear of drugs and crime, welfare mothers, immigrants and aliens, the more you control all of the people.
