Backpedal away. The point was not missed. Your post was crystal clear to all who read it.

Here it is again. Your point clearly suggests that the Palestinians have been making it up - they are "looking hale and hearty" and indeed "claiming victory".

It would be akin to someone posting images of healthy looking Jews in 1945 and wondering what all the fuss is about. Today, that is called Holocaust Denial.

There would be a number of people that would be perfectly happy if that were to happen & they'd turn up all over the web trying to make excuses for it.

Peace is great BUT as many have said - will it be a lasting peace? That's the question. Why have they moved loads of troops to the WB? What is needed now is a two state solution.

I'm beginning to think that some of the pro-Israeli posters are not happy with there being a ceasefire.

Think peace won't last Israel will be itching to go back in and continue their campaign. The pictures of the hostages being surrounded by baying crowds also is provoking a lot more negative comments about the people of Gaza unfortunately. Hamas are not doing any good either ,Israel will never be bombed out of existence so the only way is international pressure put on Israel to strike a deal for a two state solution somehow .

Don't forget Bibi's part in strengthening Hamas. I heard some war expert on Newstalk the other morning with Pat Kenny saying that Hamas numbers have actually increased since Oct 7th. Relatives (young males) who have had family members blown up or shot were flocking to join. That is not good. Let's hope that this new peace becomes a just peace with no double standards or it could be back to square one again.

Pictures and posts all over the place of the three Israelis being returned. It is indeed great news. Comments from polticians around the world naming them and saying how great it is that they have been returned. Ursula von Der Leyen etc.

Does anyone know the names of the 90 Palestinian women and kids being released from IDF captivity today?

There is nothing so pure and righteous and unimpeachable as pre-emptive self defence. No point waiting on them to have capacity.

"These kids need to be killed from the day they born".

And who could argue? It's just unfortunate that we don't allow others to do the same pre-emptive self defence isn't it. Russians definitely no.

Palestinians have few friends unfortunately so their hostages will receive little coverage abroad .However Hamas are bringing misery and death on their people .What did they expect to happen after Oct 7 they know Israel takes retribution on the whole population and that's what happened and will continue to as long as Hamas continues their futile attacks on Israel .

Posters on here would have you believe that it is a failing of Israeli character to react negatively to those baying crowds in Gaza though.

Sky news summed it up well - "Bibi wasn't dancing to Joe Biden's tune, now he has to dance to Donald Trump's tune"

Incredible that never-Trumpers had the absolute gall to bad mouth him over the last 4 years and claim that it was Biden who acquired the international unrest from Trump.

Time for a lot of people to do some introspection on themselves and have a rethink on the Trump movement over the next few weeks. We can look forward to a much brighter 4 years than the last.

It would indeed be akin to that, if the Jews in question had emerged hale and hearty from Auschwitz.

The point is: they didn't. Jews in actual concentratoin camps were emaciated to the point of risking death at their first post-captivity meals.

I know. It's just like when Herschel Grynszpan - German born Jewish fella - murdered diplomat Ernst vom Rath back in the day. What did he expect to happen? He knew Germany would take retribution on the whole of its Jewish population and that is what happened.

And yet some people today don't accept that as an excuse for Kristallnacht. But maybe some day those people will come around to seeing the moral legitimacy of collective punishment as a principle.

You could find their names if you were actually interested. Much better to use the generality as propaganda though, because the reality is not at all as you portray it:

Here's an article about some of the Palestinians set to be released:

Chaya just received a devastating phone call notifying her that the Palestinian killer of Erez Rond, her son, is about to get out of prison and be set free. She says that she felt like somebody had punched her in the gut, as if she was receiving the news of her son’s murder again. As if her son was being killed again.

A punch in the gut to the families of terror victims

    And here:

Abla Saadat, the wife of Ahmed Saadat, Secretary-General of the PFLP, who planned the assassination of Minister Rehavam Ze’evi and has been imprisoned since 2006, is set to be released as well. In November, more than 60 PFLP members involved in terrorist activities, including Abla, were arrested. Hamas eagerly is seeking the release of her husband.

Additionally, Nahil Masalmeh, 37, who planned an attack on a security officer at the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, will be released. She was arrested while carrying a knife. Nahil's husband, Ahed Dodin, a senior Hamas operative, is also in detention, Ynet reported.

A 17-year-old East Jerusalemite girl who attempted a stabbing attack on police officers in the Old City in May 2024 will also be released in the deal's first phase, as well as Noal Abd Fattah, who stabbed a 70-year-old man with a 20 cm knife on the Armon Hanatziv Promenade, will also be released. She was scheduled to be released in 2028.

A 16-year-old who conducted a shooting attack near the City of David, wounding an IDF officer over three years ago, will also be released. The prosecution is seeking an 18-year sentence for him, and his trial is still ongoing.

Bit different from a 9 month-old baby, his 4 yar old brother and their mother, all taken from their beds and suspected of no crimes at all. They have never had the right to a Red Cross visit in all that time - but apparently war crimes like that don't count for some posters here because the victims are Jews and therefore deserving of inhumane treatment.

Bit different from a 9 month-old white baby, his 4 yar old white brother and their white mother, all taken from their beds and suspected of no crimes at all.

Fixed (some of) your post there.

Am happy for you to send on some links of Von Der Leyen et all congratulating the release of the 90 Palestinian women and children hostages by names along with their photos. I must have missed those ones.

A case on the pagers will be interesting.

A terrroist group bought equipment en masse, that equipment was sabotaged, killing and injuring those in possession of equipment owned by a terrorist group. It will be difficult to prove that was a war crime.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,327 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

It must be nice to be able to simplistically and retrospectively designate every dead or maimed victim as a terrorist.

A modern take on the quote from Platoon - "Anyone who runs is a VC. Anyone who stands still is a well disciplined VC"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,851 ✭✭✭✭blanch152

Read my post again, I didn't say that.

A receiver of stolen property isn't necessarily a thief, a person who was in possession of Hamas equipment isn't necessarily a terrorist, and I never implied that they were. However, I believe a court would conclude that it would be legitimate to sabotage equipment being purchased by a terrorist organisation.

    You made that up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,327 ✭✭✭✭Donald Trump

Well that's alright then. Most people versed in the subject mistakenly believe that such actions are expressly forbidden under international law, but if it ever comes up in an International Court, it can simply refer those eejits to your post to set them straight.

The one thing I'll say in favour of Trump is that he is not a right wing Zionist and war criminal in the way Biden and Starmer are. He clearly hates Netanyahu and I doubt he has much time for Israel itself. I was reading a report today from the US that when he made his 'there will be hell to pay if there is not a ceasefire', his comments were aimed as much at Netanyahu as at Hamas

Just because one is in possession of a pager does not make them a valid target though. The two innocent kids that were killed could be classed as war crimes as it could be viewed as an indiscriminate attack on them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,432 ✭✭✭✭walshb

so Biden and Starmer are war criminals? When was this verified?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,274 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

They kept arming the regime even after the ICC and ICJ interventions and after the arrest warrant was issued for Netanyahu.

Exactly. Also in April of last year he blasted the Israeli's saying

"They’ve got to finish what they started, and they’ve got to finish it fast, and we have to get on with life"

and also in response the the obliteration of buildings in Gaza:

"Israel is absolutely losing the PR war"

Naturally enough, his naysayers claimed he said "Finish them off"

Interesting. Trump just announced Mel Gibson as ambassador of Hollywood California. Mel Gibson being a long term sufferer of "antisemitism" accusations.

Un said violation of humanitarian law

    https://www.ohchr.org/en/press-releases/2024/09/exploding-pagers-and-radios-terrifying-violation-international-law-say-un

“To the extent that international humanitarian law applies, at the time of the attacks there was no way of knowing who possessed each device and who was nearby,” the experts said. “Simultaneous attacks by thousands of devices would inevitably violate humanitarian law, by failing to verify each target, and distinguish between protected civilians and those who could potentially be attacked for taking a direct part in hostilities."

However anyone who supports Israel does not respect the UN so, I guess all the humans rights organizations are wrong and the genocidal state of Israel is correct

But all Palestinian women were always innocent and not ever terrorists or in Hamas?

Or has this thread been posting fantasy for months about hordes of innocent women ruthlessly killed?

And all the Palestinan prisoners in general were supposed to be innocent victims being held for funsies.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,637 ✭✭✭volchitsa

Wow. It’s less of a horrendous war crime to kidnap babies if they’re white?

Then perhaps the fact that the Bibas family are actually Yemeni Jews (hence the boys’ red hair) will enable you to feel some sympathy for them.

(In a rather curious coincidence, Yemeni Jews had a tradition of having female professional mourners, much like in Ireland.)

Some Palestinian prisoners were held for "funsies" assuming you're referring to anal rape as "funsies".

Apologies - I'm probably a little too old to understand the language you're using. I imagine it's the type of dialogue amongst pre-teens.
