Ballsy dropping a "show some balls" sound bite. Later in the interest of balance he'll have to drop a "show some ovaries" line.

Listening to this absolute drivel as I'm visiting my mother. Fred Cooke? Doing some version of desert island discs. Absolute awful stuff. Is this really all this show has now? Theft .

Edit: just realised he's selling his tour.

Fred seems like a nice chap and it was genuinely touching when he was talking about his late mother: he practically broke down, so I feel a bit bad for being critical

    That being said

Brendan got his tears in true Joe Duffy fashion , so job done.

    For Brendan it's filler.

I know, I feel a bit guilty, however when you realise Brendan is getting over €200k for his special talent it beggars belief.

Jesus I jumped on here to say the absolute opposite. I thought it was a really enjoyable interview/chat (enjoyed the craic about the A-Team/80s). He seems a like very nice fella. When talking about this mother…very heartfelt, no pretentions.

I couldn't help to contrast him with the performative (as ihateboards mentioned above), 'inspirational' Roisin Ingle interview yesterday.

I didn’t hear the Fred Cooke segment but I did catch a minute or two of some rather vacuous young lady in the paper review section going on about an influencer she follows having to move from her home to a hotel in LA because of the fires at the moment. It was loike a complete ‘mare.

No mystery at all. It’s RTÉ.

The photographer whose only job was to take 16 photos a week of Fair City was getting €60,000 a year after all. And Marty Morrissey had a free car for 5 years……

I did wonder if the 'narcissist' segment they had on after was some kind of riposte.

Simon Harris is monitoring the situation...

Marian McKeown (sigh) and another left winger.... are the panel on "the Business" RTE Radio1 to discuss 'Merica. RTE truth matters but not balance it seems...... Or maybe they just don't have any Republican friends in USA who are prepared to come on their shows

I am still amazed that she has a career after the Blackrock college column she wrote. She should have gotten the boot from the IT over it.

years ago I was at a workshop that Roisin Ingles was at, she was a journalist/columnist even then, it was about 20 years ago. She made the entire workshop about her, interrupting and asking questions all the time, no one else got a look in. Utterly painful.

That was just a few years after I had buried my 5 year old daughter from cancer. Watching a 5 year old going through operations, tests, treatments made me feel "awe", she was so small and so brave. You'd give your right arm to have cancer rather than your small child. We went through it all quietly, no media, no "my journey", no Late Late Show appearances, and we have lived with her loss ever since……as many do.

Most ordinary people who go though cancer have families to mind, kids to feed, bills to pay, or may even be entirely alone, there is no "awe" from the likes of Brendan O Connor. That is just reserved for "celebrities" who get sick, one of their own. Sorry for the cynicism.

…..thanks for the wishes, but also to mention I am not looking for sympathy (cancer and death is everywhere) , its just the constant "celebrity" and fawning over them that gets to me at times, while thousands of us just get on with it. BOC is a good and insightful interviewer on a 1-2-1 (at times!)………. but he is also the king of fawning !

Brenda Power on again, this time defending the Israeli ambassador’s statement that our President shouldn’t speak at a holocaust memorial - one which he was invited to speak at by the organisers btw.

To listen to Power you’d think we’re all Nazis.

Putting aside whether he should attend or not, the entire debate around Michael D just shows how much he's (knowingly) overstepped the mark in his role as President. It's mind boggling how so many see him as some kind of poetic/philosophical voice of righteousness. He's a cynical, self-serving politician…and an absolute pretentious pain in the hole.

Brenda Power giving Tubs a mention too. Operation RehabRyan in full flow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,361 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

He got elected twice and with a sizeable vote too. People know what he is and knew what sort of president he'd be, so it's not surprising. He's also still very popular...

Whatever your opinion on Higgins, he is a more decent man than the Israeli ambassador who has tarred this nation with her despicable lies, slurs and propaganda.

He is our President and has been invited by the organisers (who you’d assume are Jewish) to this event. He should not be told not to attend by the ambassador of a state that has said some shall we say “incendiary untruths” about our country.

Cleilia Murphy (terrible actress on Fair City a 100 years ago) and her daughter might have been a good (the only) idea in the canteen this morning.... but its Doom radio

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,629 ✭✭✭Cole

Jaysus…these two. Bring back the Michael D debate ffs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,242 ✭✭✭✭walshb

    Who are these two ditherers?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,242 ✭✭✭✭walshb

When is Michael Harding back on???😖

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,242 ✭✭✭✭walshb

    Clarabelle?😖

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,629 ✭✭✭Cole

Clara Belle and her fella Crosby…double denim (wtf is that?), calling her mother Clel…

I'm embarrassed that I've kept listening. So cringe inducing, it's enjoyable.

I'm predicting BOC to read out texts saying how in awe they are, how inspirational it is, in tears etc.
