Same Same. Stretching it. Wouldn't be advising it if it was mine. Cheap service item too.

Pads don’t really degrade with age. If you we’re referring to discs, I’d understand as they can get very rusty.

The pads sit on a plate of steel. Of course they degrade with time and weather. No idea why someone wouldn't spend the 30 or 40 quid every few years. Cheap risk insurance..

It appears that Polestar is transitioning to an 'active sales' model, which likely means abandoning the showroom-only, buy-online approach they've been using for years. While I believe their previous method worked for customers, it hasn't been drawing enough people through the doors. This shift to a more traditional sales strategy should benefit Polestar's future. Additionally, it seems a small SUV might be in the pipeline. I'd like to stick with Polestar, but in the long term, I probably want to move from the P2 sedan to a mid-sized SUV again.

Yes, need to increase sales volume. CEO has has determined that running the more traditional dealer sales channel in parallel to the 'Spaces' is the way forward. I would tend to agree based on my limited experience. UK is going to increase from c. 5 Spaces to c. 20 'outlets' in next 12 months. Also going to launch in France. Have heard reports of the Swedish Volvo dealerships all now hiring dedicated Polestar salespeople (I don't know if true or not).

I have my Polestar 2 now a week after collecting it in Dublin and driving it back to Cork. It's been a great experience so far and I'm enjoying the drive. They're a rare enough sight on the road so was pleasantly surprised to see two yesterday. I've tried to order rubber mats for the car form Polestar but I can't seem to do it on the website. Has anyone managed to order them?

Did you try ordering through the app? And tes they are a great car. I have mine a few months now and love it

Some sense has arisen. I think many of these businesses fail to understand that the Tesla effect has a limited reach. Most people dont want to make such large scale purchases without the traditional visibility and i suppose 'fallback' of a human to complain to. There is certain industries that will move much slower or not at all into what is 'next gen' operations.

Too much UX designer / product people dont understand the majority of their customers needs (this goes for many industries across the board)

I did. When you click on the Buy Now button, it says no products available. It's possibly just a lack of stock.

I quite liked the buying experience, but when you get asked every day of the week, "What brand is that car?" you have to consider that the general public has little knowledge of Polestar. Anyone unfamiliar with the brand may find it difficult to buy a car without the traditional face-to-face dealer interaction. Additionally, there's a generation of buyers, mostly men, who enjoy walking into a dealer and feeling like they're getting a "great deal" on a new car.

Ive bought a couple of cars brand new out of the showroom and it's completely outdated nowadays in my opinion, it's the equivalent of going into a bank and queuing up to cash a cheque. Face to face stuff is disappearing from a lot of services and that suits me just fine!

Covid changed people’s perception of buying online.

3 kids of neighbours in my road all bought cars in the last few months. All bought online and delivered to them. There in their late 20’s and all friends, so most likely one bought and the others followers, Second hand now, not new but anecdotal evidence there.

I bought 3 cars during Covid sight unseen. 2 in the UK and one in Kerry.

There’s also the cooling off periods that allow the return of the cars that you don’t get buying in person.

30k Kms service today, in and out in an hour and a bit. Covered under service plan so no charge

Opinions are great but the sales stats don't lie. People buy in dealerships. It's not even a debate. Maybe in 5 years we can revisit this but it is what it is.

I enjoyed my recent visit to dealer and got to see the car in standard spec and high spec plus a trip to 2 more dealers local enough I saw all 4 colours it comes in.

The colour I chose would not have been my first choice from a website or YouTube video but in person, it stood out to me and I've ordered it.

Really got a feel for the 2 versions it came in and able to make the right choice.

I'm sure it could be a few thousand cheaper bought on an app but like a lot of things, its part of the experience. 2nd car I've bought from same salesperson and might be back for 3rd to replace the 1st when a certain model gets released.....

Do we really have to work from home, shop from home, buy cars from home? There'll be nothing out in the world only what's in our screens someday!

I agree. A car is a physical product you interact with. It is good to be able to see it in the metal, touch the buttons, seats , plastics etc and also drive it.

Would anyone buy a house without a physical viewing?

Even new builds have show houses to give you a feel for them.

This lack of showrooms has held them back. It appears they are now acknowledging this.

Yeah, each to their own though. Place for all preferences. A guy in work bought a tesla model y having only ever seen it on a stand in a shopping centre in Belfast. He seems genuinely happy with the car and thought buying on an app was great. He's also genuinely happy with the car.

I was 90% sure I wanted the car i ended up buying, but I did want to see it and sit in it. Doing so, I changed colour choice and spec levels as I mentioned above.

Looks like the Polestar 7 will be replacing the Polestar 2 and will be an SUV. Image is a render from InsideEVs

The idiosyncratic naming policy is another thought that doesn’t help Polestar. The replacement for the polestar 2 should be polestar 2…
certain conventions and practices just work and Polestar seem to be going out of their way to make life harder for themselves and customers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,702 ✭✭✭CMOTDibbler

Inside EVs are speculating that it's replacing the Polestar 2. There's nothing in the Polestar briefing that actually says that. In fact later in their statement it says that they are introducing the Polestar 2, 3 and 4 to the French market.

Interestingly, the 7 will be manufactured in Europe.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 282 ✭✭derekreilly

I have heard in the past that the model numbers will increase and replace older models

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 282 ✭✭derekreilly

I assume the European built line is to combat tariffs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,702 ✭✭✭CMOTDibbler

Yeah. They're also moving production of the 4 to South Korea and obviously have the US production facility in South Carolina for the 3 as well. They farm out production rather than having their own factories.

I suppose they're not going to announce the replacement of the 2 prematurely. There's also no forecast on when the 7 will begin production.

It’s basically an ex30, which is an odd replacement for the 2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,702 ✭✭✭CMOTDibbler

They're guessing it'll be based on the EX30. No guarantee they're right.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,351 ✭✭✭✭listermint

An EX 30 drove by me earlier today. I immediately spotted it and actually slowed down to look at the rear to see was it a Polestar. I think the conclusions are highly accurate. Has to be a shared chassis.
