Just been quoted €110 for alignment and balancing.

Is that about right these days?I

Last time I got alignment (only) done it was €70, several years ago.

Sounds a bit expensive but then I was charged €20 PER WHEEL for balancing in an Indy tyre shop recently which I thought was outrageous.

€20 for 4 wheels if they were off the car would be enough.

Agree. Raising on a ramp, gunning 4 wheels on and off, and balancing them is a 20 minute job tops. I would consider €30 - €40 reasonable, certainly not €80....

    Too expensive by far.

    €110...

Sounds like somebody wanting for a quick return on the cost of their alignment machine.

sounds bit expensive. last time I got 4 wheel alignment done think it was around 60€ so in your case alignment and wheel balancing I be expecting to paid €80 so 110 probably going rate now as last time I got alignment was few years ago

I got 4 wheel laser alignment done in March and it was 50 euro.

If you are getting your tyres fitted and balanced 15-20 euro a corner seems to be the going rate so another 60 euro on top would be average.

Would your tyres not have been balanced when they were fitted initially?

How long should the wheel alignment of a car take... I visited a garage today and it only took 8 minutes in total to track/align the wheels of my car... I have my doubts if this is sufficient... Would appreciate your opinions on this.

You've posted 2 separate jobs there.

    1. Balancing of all 4 tyres.
    2. Tracking/Alignment

    €110 seems about right.

Alignment can take 20-30 mins depending on the adjustments needed.

Did you get alignment or balancing done?

    Describe what they done.

Is your car now driving stright?

Did you get a report printout to say it was all within spec?

Balancing is free if you buy the tyres there

    2 wheels alignment €30 to €35

    4 wheels alignment €60 to €70

Edit: FFS @horseofstone start a new thread instead of confusing people

Tracking and alignment and balancing are all different things

Balancing is typically done for free when the tyres are changed, unless you dent your wheel by hitting a pothole or kerb, you might be charged to get that wheel balanced if you're not also replacing a tyre.

Tracking is a partial alignment, it is easier and quicker than a full alignment because it only involves one plane of movement, while alignment includes camber, caster and the toe (tracking)

Proper alignment takes a bit of time and can be a pain in the arse if any of the linkages are worn or bent (often the case if you're going in because the alignment is bad in the first place)

So, a quote to repair bad alignment is not the same as 'checking alignment' and not the same as doing the tracking.

if the alignment is bad, the repair cost could take more time than just adjusting a few linkages and and time is money, and Labour is charged at close to a hundred euros an hour these days.

    Owning a car is expensive.

A hunter hawkeye alignment machine is €120,000 for example, of course there are other brands out there but thats a hell of a lot of alignments to get your investment back even at €110 minus vat labour and other overheads

Yeah the car is now driving straight…no printout though
