For the Trump supporters. What are his policies or things he’s done in politics that made you a supporter of his?

It seems, according to an MSN report, that Trump is serious about buying Greenland back from the Danes. There's a however applicable to what the wording of the MSN report implies: The USA did not own Greenland to sell it to Denmark in the first place.

A year after the Nazi Government forces invaded Denmark in 1940, the Danish ambassador in the US signed a deal with Cordell Hull to allow the US occupy some territory on Greenland to ensure the Nazis did not occupy the island.

It seems that disinformation is being used to try and justify Trumps statement/s of the US, on his orders, occupying Greenland through the use of US military forces for strategic and commercial reasons when he becomes president of the US.

Exactly how is the US going to pay for Greenland? 1st off what is it even worth?

According to Trump it is vital for security and shipping so not Exactly a good starting negotiation position.

They we have the claimed resources buried beneath the ice. As global warming continues they will eventually be able to be mined. So again, trillions will be the start.

Where is this miney coming from? Trump has promised tax cuts, lower food prices, cutting gas price by 50%.

Adding trillons more onto the national debt will mean massive inceease in interest costs which means less money.

TThey can't even afford to rebuild their crumbling infrastructure. They haven't even got the resources to put out wildfires in their own country.

But apparently they can buy Greenland?

They haven't even got the resources to put out wildfires in their own country.

This has very little to do with money.

The larger problem is that Greenland isn't for sale.

Money is never a problem for the US as long as they have capacity in the economy to do things like infrastructure and better firefighting etc.. Risk is they have no capacity and start spending big and that feeds inflation. Thankfully for Donny he cares not a jot about investing in infrastructure and other public good unless it directly helps him or his "friends".

Buying Greenland require no economic capacity, just green backs which he can just print. Can't see it happening though unless he goes all last century and just takes it which is a while new ball game.

Wrong. The US owes over $36 trillion in debt. They would have the capacity to improve infrastructure but they can't even do that for their own country, never mind somewhere difficult like Greenland. They have a bloated military and that chokes the rest of their public services.

Printing more money is a huge no-no given the focus MAGA put on cutting inflation. I know we're discussing the man of 30,000 lies a term or 20 a day but even this is a stretch. Culture war issues always struggle when the cost of living continues to increase upon the election of the culture war candidate.

"Printing more money is a huge no-no given the focus MAGA put on cutting inflation."

You don't actually believe that, do you? 😀
First of all you would have to believe that the MAGA block, or the republicans as a whole, actually care about the well being of the country and the people. Instead of believing that they would gladly burn the place to the ground if it nets them any monetary gain whatsoever.
You know exactly that they don't give a single sh1t about anything and all their promises and policies are utterly meaningless. They are thieves, crooks, lairs, morons and grifters. And a few extremist nutbags.
Whatever they say is exactly the same as the accomplice of the pickpocket that distracts you by telling you some bullsh!t story whilst waving their arms about so you don't notice that the other guy is pulling your wallet out of your pocket.

They will then blame woke, or the dems, or all those mean countries around the world that don't want to play nice with them and all their disciples will holler, clap, stamp their feet and cheer hysterically as they're losing their pensions, healthcare, worker's rights and everything costs 20% more. But at least all them gays, wimmin and brown people have it worse.

As an aside, I'm pretty sure the republicans have no intention of doing anything about immigration, except erode human rights for immigrants. My theory, they will create laws that won't stop it, but will make sure that immigrants have zero rights and can be exploited as slaves. And a few few laws to make life worse for women, gays or trans people. No reason, just red meat for the base, so they will feel their war on woke is being fought. Many people won't care beyond that, even to their own detriment.
We've seen it with Corona. People gladly paid with their lives so they could stick with the delusion. This is the state of humanity right now.

Regarding the cost of buying Greenland, I'd like to offer to follwing ideas:

    1. Trump has no intention of actually doing this. He just wants a handy version of the "The Wall" that he can wheel out so that he can make it look like he's doing something for America. Throw in Canada and Panama with that too. Same idea.
    2. Trump hasn't considered the actual cost of buying Greenland because he is a f*cking idiot.

The US likely can't afford to buy a place like that right now. That includes the cost of having to take over the maintaining of Greenland's infrastructure and settlements, which I suspect gets a bit of subsidy from Copenhagen.

Greenland should agree to the sale on one condition… That Trump can point it out on a map

Cue Donnie getting confused between Greenland and Iceland….and maybe even Ireland :P

Trump: I have discovered, and it's quite spectacular, that Greenland has ice and Iceland is green. Not many people know this.

Rudy settles his defamation case, no amount disclosed but likely as not, not even close the $189 million+ that he owed. Gets to keep his Yankees rings and some property.

He should take a look at himself and ask, 'was it worth it?' From America's Mayor to penniless, pathetic freak, a lamprey on CFTrump's bloated behind. Just another prop in Dictator Don's reality show that's been discarded. Apparently Trump posted "Save Rudy" to his vanity site with a link to a donation site, which raised $189k.

You're arguing against things I never said. It's true that MAGA is a movement based on hatred, venality, prejudice, corruption and authoritarianism. It is equally true that it is completely devoid of empathy. MAGA loons across the pond will notice when their own shopping is more expensive. They won't care about anyone else but Trump is unlikely to rile up his base over Greenland, a country his base would struggle to find on a map. These are the same people who think that Third Reich style fascism is perfectly fine because eggs are expensive. Will Trump lower the price of them? No. That's not how inflation works.

However, acquiring Greenland is going to involve a lot of hard work. Either he buys it from Denmark which isn't an option or he invades it which might involve a war. I don't know how NATO works if a member declares on another but I can't see the rest of the alliance standing for one member being attacked. Being anti-war and anti-intervention is another core element of MAGA, insofar as such things exist.

Most likely is some sort of empty token concession from Copenhagen based on the social media news cycle and the fact that somehow, there are a lot of illiterate adults in the US. Mining rights for the next decade or something with the knowledge that that won't happen.

Reminds me of that quote from Adal E. Stevenson II:

“Someone heard Stevenson’s impressive speech and said, “Every thinking person in America will be voting for you.” Stevenson replied, “I’m afraid that won’t do—I need a majority.”

If these reports are true, it's a nice move by Biden to delay TikTok ban.

Trump wanted it out, giving traction to its removal and then wanted it back. Of course, the MAGA heads are already saying on X that it's lazy or indecisive of Biden but If Biden enforced ban he would have gotten it in the ear.

I think it's good that is gone, the productivity of places will shoot up because its addictive (like old boards was!)

I agree with your points, I'm just picking up on the money printing statement. It's a rational argument, but these are not rational times.

I see your point but Trump, for all his flaws, is a man who knows his base. He speaks to them regularly at rallies. If someone in the White House can connect the dots between increasing inflation and some barren, permafrosted island, I think Greenland will be safe from him.

Trump is not responsible for the ceasefire in spite of his fans thinking he is. He also tended to egg Netanyahu on during the election. On top of that his and ambassador to Israel doesn't believe in the existence of a Palestinian people.… So can't see a peace prize in his future...

Schrödinger's fans - if the economy is good, it's down to Trump coming into office. If the economy is bad, it's Biden's fault.

Rinse and repeat for any MAGA talking point.

Trump told Netanyahu to hurry up with the genocide of Palestinians. We're now supposed to believe that Trump has single-handedly brought peace to the middle east.

They should announce they are also open to offers from China. Get a wee bidding war going on even with no intention to sell.

That's exactly what you and the rest of the Biden fans did for the last 4 years.

Btw Trump and his team played a big part of getting the deal done even the State Department admits that.

That's exactly what you and the rest of the Biden fans did for the last 4 years.

And exactly what Trump said of the outgoing Obama administration.

you and the rest of the Biden fans

There's always these ones bandied about.

SCOTUS has ruled the ban can stay as it doesn't affect US citizens rights under the 1st amendment. This particular proposed TikTok ban is one passed by a majority of both parties working together in congress. Trump has said he will block the ban or get congress to pass an amendment to the constitution allowing TikTok stay available to the citizens.

Looks like Mother Nature has chosen to rain on Donnie’s parade:

    https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ceq9917rl18o

I’m of two minds about this. It means that he has no option to rail on about crowd sizes this time, which I guess is a bonus.

But on the other hand we never get to see what crowd size he’d actually manage now. Would have been hilarious if he somehow got a smaller crowd.

Of course I don’t care all that much about the size of a crowd….it’s not like I’m a grown adult play-acting as a Head of State, or something like that :P
