I think torque converter autos are cheaper than DCT, they are pretty bullet proof too especially with higher power engines.

They're way better than CVT both for reliability and offer a far better driving experience.

The higher fuel consumption doesn't really matter in such an expensive car anyway and if you're not driving 50,000 Kms a year + it probably wouldn't matter to most people.

The w221 shape older s class, up to 2013. We're so much more attractive from the outside, particularly the face-lift in long wheel base...

As a wheelchair user cars parked like this are the pits. It means im forced to go looking for another crossing which may or may not be within another 200 meters which entails another 400 meters of unnecessary pushing and trying to avoid dog crap and all the other rubbish dumped on the footpath. Throw in other gits parking on the footpaths and not been able to pass them. All because some git cant be arsed to park their car another few meters and not block the dished footpath. NOT easy when shoulders may be be already suffering from wear and tear and the pain that brings.

No it's not. It's a horrible looking thing in my opinion but looks are subjective. Coukd becer!warm to the horrible grill that Mercedes use but I think I seen something even worse today a BMW not sure which mode a 7 series maybe with an oversized lit up grill and tiny lights it just looked all wrong.

Those cars with the light strips across the front are so common.

Landrover Defender or the new Toyota Landcruiser?? I like the look of both, but quality wise I guess the Toyota wins.

A Skoda Kodaiq and a Toyta Yaris.

I have to say only that I was directly behind the Toyta Yaris I would have never in a million years guessed it was a new car. Very dated looking, if you told me it was 10 years old I would have believed you.

Saw my first one today. Santa Fe in Meath with an MH reg.

I was hoping it would be a LaFerrari or at least a hot hatch. But seeing as hot hatches are as rare as LaFerrari's it's hardly surprising. Where are the real young men and women of Ireland?

Hot hatches cost a lot of money these days. Nothing like GTi's and Type R's from 20 plus years ago. They were relatively affordable back then.

Yeah, that's such a good point…. along with the fact that regular old school cars are deemed "too low" and "hard to get in and out of" by the overweight majority. I miss our high powered hatches and estate cars. My wife and I have promised ourselves a hot-hatch when the kids eventually emancipate. But I have a feeling it's going to be a hearse with a modified exhaust.

When you are faced with something like an 80k bill now for a golf R or 40k for an id3 gtx, becomes blatantly obvious that ICE hot hatch is dead.

Ioniq 5N would be fun to see around.

I've still only seen 2, a diesel Leon sportstourer my brother got and a hybrid Corolla GR spec my neighbour has (not to be confused woth the hot hatch though)

I paid €52k for an R in July 2015. 10 years later a new R is €87-92k according to donedeal this morning.

According to the CSO site, €52k in 2015 inflation-adjusted would be €63k today. There’s your problem.

2009, paid €42k for a brand new BMW 520d. Le Mans Blue, 19” 172 Spyders, pro nav, xenon’s. Not much else to be honest.

    Inflation is the devil 😈
