Hi. I built a PC based on advice here 9/10 years ago. I had a great run but the power supply just died and looking for a quick replacement. The spec is unchanged:

    Item

    Name

    Motherboard

    AS Rock B85M Pro4

    CPU

    Intel i5 4460

    RAM

    Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB)

    Power Supply

Be Quiet Pure Power L8 530W Modular

    Case

    Fractal Design R5

    HDD

    Seagate Desktop HDD

    SSD

    250GB Samsung 850 Evo

    Graphics Card

    MSI GTX 970 4096MB GeForce

    Monitor

    Ben Q GL 2450

I'm well out of touch with building so just looking for something I can replace like for like for now, if possible. One thing I've noticed is my SATA power cable connection looks different to other PSUs I see out there? All advice is welcome.

    Here's the old PSU https://pcpartpicker.com/product/7MPfrH/be-quiet-pure-power-l8-530-w-80-bronze-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-bn181

    Thanks

PSUs haven't changed that much. It's still the ATX standard, just slightly updated, and any current ATX PSU should work.

Thanks a mil. Any recommendations that will work with my existing cabling or is it not possible/worth it?

It's still the same cabling today, it's a straight swap. That includes the SATA cables, so it's not clear what you mean by them looking different.

Sorry, I guess I was hung up on the modular setup of my current PSU with the existing cables. The SATA power connection looks different. I take your point to just use the new cables that come with the new PSU.

Anything you would recommend that's decent value? Thanks

Do not mix modular cables between different PSUs. They're proprietary connections at the PSU end, and it can end things very badly.

That's great to know. Appreciate it!

Quick follow-up question. Does anyone know the best place to get a PSU quickly? Amazon appears to be at least a week for delivery.

Where are you dude? Currys sell decent models but you are paying a little over the odds. You can check stock on their site.

The only company that seems to have local stock at the moment is GGmachines.

This DeepCool PF700 is probably okay for 65eur if you collect, but with shipping price + time you might as well buy from anyone.

Cheers folks. I'm in Dublin but nothing suitable in stock in the local Currys and GGmachines are too far away. Will go for Amazon I think so for convenience. Thanks
