Is it a case of not using experience and intuition ahead of model guidance sometimes. What I mean is what is the likely result when you have a stiff northerly westerly irrespective of what various model guidance might suggest is going to happen. A north westerly feed will often introduce too much modification to a cold airmass. We have seen this before over the years. A direct feed northerly will not undergo as much modification, but the problem is it will often times lack precipitation for all but the north West .

Well, North Offaly got its yearly dusting I just checked, it then precedes to sleet it down, washing it away or starting to... Can't wait to get this spell out of the way and hopefully have a reload later this month or in March...

Absolutely baltic out this morning in Bray. Definitely feeling alot colder than yesterday.

First time in this spell that some of the paths have a bit of ice and black ice

Def colder in Cork City too. Dry and calm though. Taking forever to heat the house. Take care everyone.

No snow in the rathfarnham area of SCD at 72m ASL.

Apparently it snowed in clondalkin last night? At about 23:30- was there much?

Been outside, midlands. Feels very cold, some icy conditions but not much more than yesterday evening and no freezing of windscreens, etc. My outdoor cameras are saying temperature 34F (1.5C).

Have to love the opening of Morning Ireland (on Radio 1) this morning….'the big freeze continues'….and not one Met E station reporting sub-zero! 🙄🤣

Just an observation - appreciate that lots of people have issues with snow, ice, no water and no power.

the met Éireann app has been absolutely spot in for my area in south carlow. I based my decision to travel to Dublin this morning on it and left earlier before temperatures are forecast to drop.

1C in Naas and no frost. Feels warmer than yesterday. A rain shower must have passed through.

I presume schools have reopened today.

Limerick has returned to normal, except for back gardens with little sunlight.

cork city itself is fine but the road into the estate was worse then yesterday. The contrast between treated and non treated roads is easy to see.

Will those orange warnings that was mentioned yesterday apply to cork ?

At the moment, just a countrywide yellow warning for low temperatures for the coming days (until Thursday).

There always seems to be a warning in place these days. Its just a little cold in most parts. No need for it.

We had a couple of cm here in North Longford. Our local road is treacherous as its frozen in the snow. Local school is open, but no buses running, so I've been drafted in to run a couple of grandkids to school. Heading off now with the fwd. My young lad on way to Longford Town just rang to say that 4 miles from home, now snow as such and main road gritted and clear.

    Clare (430ft asl)

At 0.1c, Ballyhaise in Cavan is the only official station reporting a subzero temperature.
The lowest temperature overnight was -0.5c at Claremorris, Mayo and -1.4c at Portglenone, Antrim, while Valentia, Kerry rose to 6.9c.

Some very bad road and footpath conditions being reported throughout Cork county with a lot of black ice.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,413 ✭✭✭mcburns07

@JanuarySnowstor Didnt wake up to frost let alone snow 😄 roads are bad though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,186 ✭✭✭wazzzledazzle

Roads and footpaths are probably worse than yesterday, can't comment on main roads but local roads would need due care when out and about this morning for anyone about to head out - N Kildare

Too muchof a warm sector for any snow showers. I have a frost alright near Mallow. Frozen compacted slush where I am on roads and footpaths.

Heavy shower of snow at the moment on top of white slush overnight. Sticking
