Couldn't find a thread on this.

Based on a true story, Jude Law is the grizzled veteran detective hoping to move to a quieter role in his twilight years but gets pulled into a case involving a radical splinter group of the Aryan Nation pulling off robberies to fund a race war. I'm surprised this isn't getting more press as it's quite gripping and there are several action scenes that are edge of the seat stuff.

It's directed by Justin Kurzel who directed the grim pair of "Snowtown" and "Nitram" but this thankfully dials down the bleakness. He also directed "Assassin's Creed" but we don't talk about that. As an aside I always thought either John Hillcoat or Kurzel would be perfect to handle the required dread of a "Blood Meridian" adaptation.

Jude Law is impressive and Nicholas Hoult has been on a tear with his roles lately. Jurnee Smollett isn't really given a lot to do andI also find it somewhat weird that Jussie Smollett's sister is in a film about racial violence but whatever.

Better than your average thriller 7.5/10
