Is there really only one person now being paid to work for boards.ie?

That explains a lot and that poor person why are they still here seems crazy not to get a new job, I cannot imagine that this job pays very much and there are very well paid jobs out there for anyone with a bit of cop on

He may also still be on his Christmas break and not back until Monday/next week

Its all over the place on macOS & safari too.

Same symptoms, bookmarks will bounce you anywhere in the thread but not to the last seen post. Notifications have the same problem. You click on a notification for a reply to your username and you could end up anywhere like 100 pages back or something but not on the post in question.

If he's reading these threads at home he'll be busy posting off CV's.

Funny as i never metioned the up and down on screen on laptop thinking it was my lazy finger.

That has now stopped for me and the issues of malwarebytes pop up due to phishing.

Today for me seems normal now on laptop as all i did was report with a photo.

Hi there. Does anyone else have an issue using the website on an Iphone 16? When I try and click my account icon, mail box or * discussions nothing happens except the icon becomes highlighted and it doesn’t load. I used the website on an IPhone 13 for 2 years and never had this issue.

yeah it’s an iOS 18 thing I think- when I updated my iPhone 14 I’ve had that problem since.

Not sure why it’s happening but it’s the only site it’s happening to; which isn’t a massive shock to me.

I found that if you tap your profile icon and then tap roughly around the centre of the screen, your profile page opens. So the link is still there, just not visible.

Hi all and a very happy new year.

I will comment very briefly here. This type of thread crops up here every other week at this point. I am trying to keep the "just bugs…" thread up to date with relevant info regarding glitches, bugs etc.. just so that it is centralised. To try and update everywhere would be impossible to be honest.

What everyone is seeing across the site is the same thing, whether you are a regular user, a moderator, an admin or an employee. It is a glitch here, a bug there,a redirect to a very old post on a larger thread, an iOS mobile platform that is not possible to navigate, etc. etc. etc…. It is the same time after time.

I think it was Kaiser who pointed out what actually happens here, please correct me if I am wrong. Users report and issue, I report and flag that issue in a ticket for Vanilla, Vanilla either resolve it immediately or without any definitive timeline or confirmation that it will even be fixed (if it not way up their list). All of this, or most of it anyways, is because the site is operating with customisation to keep the cosy and homely feeling of Boards.ie on vBulletin. A little fix here causes a big break over there and this big wheel keeps on spinning.

There are improvements coming down the line, I will not pin myself to the wall by giving any indication on a timeline. Its been three and a half years at this point. But I will continue to fight for these improvements where I can. Boards.ie is uniquely Irish and it still has so much to offer that other platforms cannot. When I first joined here a little over two years ago, the sense of community and the variety of discussion was inspiring and that is still what keeps my interest to push for improvements.

So stick around for the fireworks, celebrations and caps being throw to the skies when we emerge on the other end of these issues.

    Best, Mike.

@Boards.ie: Mike welcome back, Im sure for you the return to work fear is greater than most.

A recommendation, can you consider setting up a new page which only you have access to and use this to track the issues, updates and recommended workaround for users etc. This way users can see the known issues, potential workarounds and should also free up some of your time updating multiple threads (which I find impossible to track). It will also give users an appreciation of how much you have on your hands and that issues are actually being fixed as at the moment most users (who care) think vanilla do absolutely nothing which I doubt is the case.

Good idea, a locked sticky could work for that.

I have that issue. Turning phone to landscape works for me.

Thanks! Yes, it did take a while to press the power button on the laptop this morning. :) I do take your point on board. I am trying to keep the bugs page updated but I do appreciate it can get busy and difficult to find the current issues and possible workarounds that people have found.

To be fair to Vanilla the support team that I work with there are very good. They are very responsive, they may not always have an immediate solution but they are very helpful and they genuinely do care.

Seems that it's the number of posts in the thread that set off the Vanilla Shake. On the weather event thread, I asked the mods to split it into a new one because it was so active, so many people were hitting it to see what the snow was doing in the area and it was important to keep it going, but the tremble was making it unusable. The mods closed the original thread and have opened another.

The new thread didn't Shake for awhile then the Shake's started up again. So, it very much seems to me it's a thread size issue, over a certain number of posts and it starts Shaking. I also think the number of posts doesn't have to be too high for the problem to occur, maybe around 100 or so? It's possible that the shake worsens as the number of posts grows.

Someone else observed that going to the next page after you land on one that's Shaking then navigate back seems to avoid the Shake. Seems like the UI is trying to figure out which part of the thread to focus on, but maybe getting messages about the size or some such back in a spew it's not expecting. I've never looked at any of the code involved, just talking based on some experiences from the past.

    Hi,

I haven't read this thread but would like to flag a problem.

When clicking on the last comment in the thread is goes to some random page number. Likewise when you click on your notifications it doesn't bring you directly to the post.

Not big issues but something to sort. Keep up the good work.

All these issues are known and being worked on.

There are many threads running at the moment with people reporting bugs and glitches. It'd be best to keep all reports to the one dedicated thread.
