so Ray Gordon helps ppl given jobs they are not able to do by helping them bullsh!t instead, by providing them with bullsh!t to bullsh!t with and not get caught out by the real bullsh!t

    what a load of …you guessed it…!!!!!

The best advice he could have given Tubridy would have been not to go in front of an Oireachtas Committee. Now maybe he did advise against this and Tubridy and Kelly were too arrogant to take that advice and wanted their chance to say their piece - but then don’t hire the guy for advice if you’re going to ignore it.

If however it was his handiwork that crafted Tubridy’s opening defence and subsequent contributions on that day, then I don’t think he sold his business very well.

Tubridy’s handling of the whole affair - from his initial “nothing to do with me”, to further denials, digging in, the shambles of his Oireachtas Committee appearance, and then his quasi-triumphant “see I told you it was all RTE’s fault” type statement that ultimately cost him his job were individually and cumulatively PR disasters.

Ask yourself this - would you hire Ray Gordon after all of that?

unfortunately failure/incompetence/stupidity/shullduggery is rewarded in Ireland not punished

When did the magazine come out? If there are that many copies still on the shelves, that tells a story all of its own.

The man is a complete fake and it's taken an expose of rte finances fir a lot of people.to see this.

How much sh!te the irish public have been willing to accept from rte over the past decades is truly depressing.

TThis Man should never be accepted back onto any radio my taxes go towards. He is without doubt the absolute pinnacle oftalentless that rte is willing to give employment to time after time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,756 ✭✭✭yagan

It would reopen the whole barter acc so politically I doubt he'll be back at rte. And knowing that he's desperate any other station can really bid him to the lowest offer and insecure contract so it's more likely he'll remain "embedded" in his paddy power sponsored gig.

    Beggers can't be choosers.

It's an awful shame some real journalist won't ask him why he promised the PAC he'd pay the cash back if the work wasn't done, and then didn't.

But his shamelessness has provided me with oodles of payback through this thread.

There are very very few real journalists out there now.

The amount of investigatve journalism being done in this country is next to nil.

Our biggest issues in the country nowadays are housing, the trolley crisis and perhaps immigration. When was the last time rte did a proper piece investigating these issues? Why not have a doc series based in Limerick hospital to show us the state of the A&E there?

Why not a series on the now 15000 homeless people in this country?

Much easier put your name to 200 NK puff pieces than spend 12 months investigating something that ultimately may not get published I guess. We’re also so litigious as a country now there’s a real fear that you’re going to be sued if you’re going to publish such a piece and I’m sure that derails a lot of potential investigative reporters from even starting to look at things more closely.

That, plus the general dumbing down of society (and with it, “news”) leads to an over supply of “Ryan Tubridy collects daughter after Longitude concert” type puff pieces (yes, that was a real article - imagine a parent collecting a teenage daughter after a concert - amazing!), or the hilariously transparent “Celebrity Father of the Year” competition that only had NK clients as contestants (🙄) in it that ran for a few years. Social media is partly responsible of course, but you also have to blame the audience. And the Daily Mail.

In the spirit of New Year, he has very graciously forgiven RTE, for their transgressions against him.

    Communication was the greatest fatality

A blind man could see what he’s at here but no doubt the Tubs superfans will lap it up. Hopefully the powers in RTÉ can see through this blatant brown-nosing, but I have my doubts.

He’s still abusing the word delicious though I see. 🙄

Sorry thought I quoted, meant to, this was in response to the NP comment

Barry Egan helped with that, prenderville did a puff piece with him, apologised, tears of course, mentioned the children and blamed nurofen again and a while later he was back.

I think if it happened now he’d have rightly been arrested and in court. How nothing happened criminally as well is beyond me

"I was gratified by the number of strangers who came up to say hello and welcome me home in the pubs, cafes and piers around town."

Jesus he must have been everywhere over Xmas meeting the fans. Shame I missed him.

Bizarre article. Fawning all the way from listening to RTÉ to all the great Irish people that represent us abroad.

he’s not going to up his Uber rating anytime soon

  • Site Banned Posts: 5,975 ✭✭✭podgeandrodge

Haha yes, the sheer ignorance of tarring every Uber driver in London. He hasn't a clue. There's something very odd about his lack of awareness.

    "After a period of self-imposed isolation from RTÉ".….. 🤦

    You were sacked!

Must grate with him that none of them know who he is!

Yes I'd forgotten he'd mentioned that, I was trying to find the article to read again! New Year's Hate Reading Resolution, found it:-

    https://extra.ie/2025/01/05/entertainment/ryan-tubridy-listening-to-rte

I’ve decided to adjust course a little and start offering thoughts and opinions that I’ve previously kept to myself

Always interesting to hear something new Ryan go on

I’ve decided to re-engage and put all animosities and grievances in the rear view mirror. Life is too short. RTÉ is a fine institution and I look back fondly on the years I worked there and particularly the people I worked with.

I wonder if this included Dee Forbes and Jim Jennings. I am sure everyone in RTÉ feel the same about you!

I’m back listening to the news programmes on Radio 1 and watching the Six One News and tuning into anything Lyric FM broadcasts (Aedín Gormley, Marty Whelan, both pictured below, George Hamilton and Simon Delaney – superstars all) and I’m back doing the Simplex crossword which I’ve missed

"Superstar" - Official Member of the RTÉ canteen, can be found to eat from this, but might stumble on words while drink a hot drink! *Happy for anyone to make sense of this cryptic clue.

a new perspective on my home country and largely in a good way

Always good to have a new out look, but it seems you've already decided to have the same out looks by your choice of listening and viewing!

I happened many years ago to walk past Mr Tubridy, he was walking fast and head down, I wouldn't have noticed otherwise, he certainly wasn't trying to be noticed or to be stopped, though he may have been in a rush.

We have so many people to be proud of who fly the flag for Ireland in so many ways at so many levels every day of the week.

I was sure this was something new but it seems the same old plamasing you've being doing over the year.

Tube announcers (the soft T being the delicious giveaway)

Gay Byrne had a soft T phobia, but seriously who gives an F

I won't quote the rest but what a load of BS.
