Holes in tiles before or after

I'm going to tile the walls in a room with plasterboard mounted on stud walls. The plumbing is there already from the previous bathroom but it's behind the walls, sitting in the attic. The only pipes I have protruding though the wall now are the toilet and shower outlets. I'll practice cutting holes on old tiles using an angle grinder for the toilet outlet. Do I need to cut the other holes onto the tiles before mounting or can I do that after the room is tiled? I'll get a plumber to plum the room afterwords. Would a plumber typically cut these holes anyway or is it regarded as the tilers job?

    I for one am confused.

If you're tiling before the plumbing is finished, how are you getting the remaining piping into place? Plus what holes do you envisage being created, mounting holes for fittings or holes for pipes, or what?

Get a plumber in to first fix.He will leave any pipes he needs out so you can cut around.

Sorry, holes for the pipes. It’s attic space behind the stud walls and all pipes access the room from there. The stud is insulated with metac, which is easy to remove as needed. I have stop ends on everything.

Ok, so Mick's answer is the right one. Pipes as first-fix, then tiling and then second-fix for the fittings.

The tiler will be the one to cut the holes cause once the plumber does the first fix they will leave the required pipework extruding from the wall and floor where needed.

If it's a bathroom be sure to use moisture resistant plasterboard.
