Abandoned vehicle

    Hi,

My previous company went into liquidation and I was left with an abandoned car on my family property for almost 3 years now. I drove this car when I worked for the company. I was told at the time of liquidation that someone would collect it but nobody has contacted me since. I'm looking to sell it it or alternatively register it in my name as it is taking up too much space at property and becoming an inconvenience. I don't have the log book. When I check on motorcheck it is not reported as stolen. Trying to figure out what options I have. Either scrap it for parts or else try to register it? Any advice greatly appreciated.

Have you made any contact with the liquidators? It's essentially their car.

    This too shall pass.

Contact the liquidators as the post above states but try to find current daily costs of secure storage of a car per day and levy that as a cost to them. Why should you be inconvenienced with no payback for 3 years of free storage.

You could definitely get a logbook using this form but not sure of the legalities of doing so.

It's not your property to dispose of in any way.

You will be committing an offence if you sell it in whole or in part.

    Contact the liquidators.

Will there even be any liquidators after 3 years? The car belongs to the liquidators but if they have finished winding up the company they won't want to deal with it. There is no way to claim a vehicle here.

    It could still be ongoing.

If not the liquidator may have been remiss in failing to realise all the assets of the company.

In this event the value of the car would not be available to the creditors and the liquidator would be liable.

    3 years nothing in liquidation.

    OP lookup the CRO site

“I can’t pay my staff or mortgage with instagram likes”.

Another possibility is that the car didn't belong to the company in liquidation.

It may have been registered to an individual.

Might be worthwhile contacting a director of the company if you have a number.

I dont see how this is your problem. Roll it onto the public roads and let the county council know there is an abandoned car. They will sort it out.

Push it out on the road and take number plates off it

Contact liquidators, you might get a cheap car out of it if that's of interest to you.
