I'd say if he had been willing to wait a few more years he'd maybe have gotten a crack at the top job but, as he said last year, he wants to be a starter right now. Alisson is still only 32 and has made it clear he wants to extend his contract, so no-one will be taking that job from him for at least another 2 or 3 years. The way things have worked out, it's great that Kelleher stayed put this year anyway though, those couple of months will have all but guaranteed he'll get a great move to a stable PL club. Newcastle or Chelsea would be brilliant for him, and for Ireland.

Some of the Italia 90 squad are doing a gig in Cork opera house next March.

Nice goal from Tom Cannon today, he seems like a natural born goal scorer.

Wouldn't be surprised to see him recalled and sent on loan to a better team next month or maybe Leicester cash in by selling. Steve Cooper is linked with the job and if he gets the job I definitely hope Cannon leaves after Cooper's disrespect towards him.

Hope HH uses him more now going forward. I like Parrott but think Cannon brings more to the table than Troy. Then you've got Idah whose now drawn a blank in his last 7 games at club level.

Rocco Vata has hit a little purple patch lately with 2 goals and 3 assists in his last five games. Still came up short against Cardiff with Robinson scoring twice to bring his league tally to 8 for the season.

Would like to see Vata get his first senior call this March the lad deserves it. Has looked impressive this season and has impressed in a green jersey whenever called upon since he joined up age 14.

If Kelleher signed for Newcastle he'd still only be No. 2. So it won't happen.

By all accounts he is thinking about switching to Scotland.

HE would be a big improvement on Pope and definitely number 1. Today's gossip is linking them with Strafford from Burnley

Any update on the Evan injury or is he just lying low for a January move?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,552 ✭✭✭✭johnnyryan89

Link? Only thing I can find is a Watford teammate was talking about him recently and mentioned how he'd like him to play for Scotland.

“It’s refreshing to see someone that’s like that, and he’s probably the winger that Scotland could probably do with.

“I’m not sure if he has completely chosen Ireland yet – I’ve not had that conversation with him but I’m going to!

“If he keeps playing as the way he is now for the next couple of years then I reckon there’s a left winger space in the Scotland team if he wants it!”

West Ham have contacted Brighton about taking Evan Ferguson on loan. it would be great to him get game time but not sure about West Ham.

Might get a run of games there, Bowen out and Antonio out long term. Might not be a stable setting long term but for 6 months, a run of games under Lopategle might offer something.

Yeah West Ham are definitely short so you would imagine he would see game time. I would be concerned that Lopetegui doesn't see out the season however. Might not be that big of deal as any other manager won't have other options.

Travers starts for Bournemouth. Kepa on bench

19 year old Gabriel Otegbayo from Cork scored a 85th minute equaliser today for Sheffield Wednesday. He is actually a Centre back. He was recently called up to the U21 squad. Someone to keep an eye on and hope he progresses.

    szmodics scores for Ipswich

I think joining a lopetegui managed team would be a disaster. They are a mess and not sure how much start time he would get.

However, if West Ham were to replace lopetegui with Potter, then I could see it being a great move. All a bit of a long shot. Might be as well getting a Championship Loan if no one comes in to buy him.

He doesn't seem to be part of the current Brighton manager's plans

Strong rumours Lopetegui is getting the bullet and Potter coming in. Maybe u have a crystal ball @Xander10

Re Ferguson, I think the most important thing is he gets regular game time for his own development and builds some momentum. Hard to develop when you're mostly on the bench.

I'd be happy to see him drop down the the Championship and start every match, then go back to Brighton next season stronger and ready to challenge for his place.

I agree regarding getting game time and building back up his confidence, but he can definitly get a PL move. He's better than Championship level.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,100 ✭✭✭Pauliedragon

If he ends up at West Ham with Potter that would be perfect. That's still up in the air though and not guaranteed by a long way.

So were Kane, Beckham and others and it didn't do them any harm. They banked the experience and found their level eventually.

Similarly John O'Shea, Shay Given and other Irish lads.

    I know what you mean.

I think he's proven that he can score goals in the PL; did Kane have that before he went on loan? (Genuine quetsion).

I genuinly feel that given the starts and something approaching good service, he can score.

Either way, he needs to get the f*ck outta Brighton and start playing some full games.

West Ham where strikers go to die.

Robbie the new gaffer at Ferencvaros, fair play to him.

Apparently he has recently started having breakfast every morning at a Hungarian Cafe in Dublin. So, for the last number of months it's always been his dream…

Ferguson linked with Bournemouth this morning after Evanilson broke his foot, might be abetter move than West Ham on loan

West Ham likely to appoint Graham Potter so could be a good time to go there as well. Wouldn’t like to see him go to Spurs. West Ham or Bournemouth would be a good move.
