Hi with AM4 coming to an end I thought I'd upgrade my cpu to try and make my pc last longer I currently have a ryzen 5 1600,so question is can my GIGABYTE GA-AB350M-Gaming 3 motherboard take a ryzen 7 I'm not sure which one to go for yet depends what deals I can find.

That board can go up to something as big as Ryzen 9 5950x. You just need to update the BIOS if it doesn't already support it.

The 5600 is often recommended as the best value.

5700x3d is probably the best value upgrade if you're gaming but, the 5600x is a solid choice.

Thanks for the replys I think I've settled on a 5700x3d if I can find any deals in January.would the stock ryzen 5 cooler be ok to use with the 5700x3d or should I look for something better.

A 5700x3d has nearly twice the TDP, 105W, compared to the 1600 at 65W. But there's plenty of cheap and very well performing air coolers around these days, and proper cooling is needed to ensure the CPU can boost the clocks to their maximum potential.
