There is a window in my house that has been locked but cannot be opened anymore as it is worn down. It's small room and I dont know how old the window is or if that makes any difference. I have tried using a bar from a door and the back side of the original lock mechanism, They fit in, but they cannot turn it. Is there any easy way to do this?

you will have to manipulate the locking mechanism open. I would guess the locking mechanism is not available anymore looking at the age of the window. you will have to fit a newer design locking mechanism and modify the frame as it won't be a direct fit. If you are Dublin based and don't want the hassle of doing it pm I can recommend a company.

Thank you. Sorry for taking so long to get back. That looks similar but instead of being vertical it is horizontal. I am not sure if I need to try that with the top or bottom half of the window but I will try and let you know if it helped. I haven't had the chance to try it yet.

    Quite straightforward if….

You can remove the glazing gasket from inside,

Go outside, remove glazing beads and remove the sealed unit,

Using glazing wedge and don carlos knife, force the casement open from inside.

Once open you will be able to determine the espaq type and order what you need.

Temporary, screw the casement shut, before putting the sealed unit back if a security issue while waiting the new lock to arrive.

OP could try a cheap bolt extractor

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0B71WGNQW

that should lock in the hole so the lock can be opened.

Just be aware those sets are cheap for a reason and the reason is they are brittle so can snap if forced.
