Why do people drive unnecessarily large cars (AKA "SUVS")?

Because she wants to? / Because she pays for it? / Because she likes it? / Doesn't want to deal with public transport?

I drive a big 3 litre diesel 5-seater that mostly has just me in it. Costs me a fair bit to run but I do a lot of mileage (about 350km a week). Sure I could buy something like that hypothetical "modest hatchback" but why should I? I work hard, I pay my bills, I like cars and I've earned it.

What does it matter to you what this girl does with her money? 2 posts in sucession? I'm sure you spend money on things that others might not "approve" of, but is that her/anyone's business either?

My guess is an SUV of some description.. the horror! 🙄

A range rover is 5m long, a yaris is 4m long. Hardly a huge difference

A range rover is only a metre longer than a supermini so allowing for a gap of a metre or 2 it takes up 7 metres instead of 6 metres.

It's wider but still fits in a lane designed for 1 car

It's higher but there's loads if space up to the sky and no bridges are raised to accommodate a range rover as far as I know.

Emissions will be higher, as is the cost to this lady.

But it's actually none of your business what she drives or spends her money on. It'll eventually get taxed out of existence but until it's illegal, she can continue to drive it.
