It helps of course that the deck was stacked in his favour. Corporate media love him because they love the easy clicks and tax breaks.

Apart from Fox News, there are very few other outlets that even like Trump let alone love him.

The left, meanwhile bickered amongst itself and Trump took advantage of a broken, undemocratic, gerrymandered and rigged system to win, fulfilling the prophecy.

When Biden won in 2020 it was 'democracy at it's best' according to the left. What did the Democrats do in the intervening four years to break the system, make it undemocratic, rigged and gerrymandered? Serious allegations there Dark Horse, any proof of this?

Nancy Pelosi has labelled Trump, Musk's puppet President Elect.

The irony of that after the WSJ article yesterday detailing how Biden was essentially a puppet President.

Pelosi has been siding with billionaires and special interests for years, she doesnt like it when the shoe is on the other foot.

I suspect he's referring to 225k votes in certain states the swinging of which were the difference in this election between an EC win one way or the other. It's not an invalid way of looking at it, but neither is it complete. For my State.

    image.png

Even the major metropolitan centers, barring Dallas, shifted right, also the Tejano counties. This is mirrored at the State legislature levels as well. Democrat majorities being reduced in most States that had them, with only one State house changing hands. Michigan's went from Democrat to Republican.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you, deflection and whataboutery.

"All jokes aside, it was that hubris and arrogance that tanked Harris and will very likely see Vance win 2 terms after Trump.

It may well be 2037 before a Democrat is in thr White House again."

I don't see that at all. More chance of Trump nominating his son to run for President next time than that Vence ejit getting it. Neither are good though so hopefully the Demecrats have got there house in order by then and have a great candidate to win it.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

You realise there's equally questions about Trump's mental competence? It applied during the first administration but even more now. His VP was effectively chosen by Peter Thiel and Musk is currently behaving like the decision maker. You've frequently complained about how the Democrats associated with the wealthy but Trump's administration looks like it's gonna be significantly influenced by Musk. Even Tesla competitors have indicated concerns that they'll be targeted by Musk.

Trump campaigned originally on draining the swamp, he seems to make the swamp more and more toxic.

Is taking a 'windfall' in order to do the bidding of Musk an official Presidential act?

Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman of New York suggested Thursday night that Elon Musk would provide President-elect Donald Trump with a “windfall” if the incoming commander-in-chief does the bidding of the X owner.

Congressman floats theory that Musk has promised Trump a ‘windfall’ if he does billionaire’s bidding

I guess it would be above Donnie’s head to explain the concept of a nation leasing a portion of their sovereign territory to another nation for the client nation’s benefit. (In this case, the canal territories, which the US got control of and benefit from for the guts of a century.)

Panama had their territory essentially sliced in half and couldn’t really benefit from the Canal tolls until they got control back in 1999. The US got handy access to a strategic asset, and a faster way to move ships between their East & West coasts without having to go around South America, or dig an insanely expensive canal through their own territory.

The pay off was that eventually the impoverished Panama would get that territory back and have a means of earning revenue from the canal. Of course Donnie needs something grab people’s attention away from Elon’s block-headed attempt to govern through him. I guess Panama will do (until Donnie finds something easier to sell to the MAGA dimwits)

Isn't there another, Chinese backed canal being developed in the area? I vaguely remember hearing that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,636 ✭✭✭Rawr

There may have been a “Belt and Road” project to build a similar canal in Colombia.

However “Belt and Road” and “Chinese backed” are two word synonymous with abysmal build quality and projects that that just land the host country in debt for something that ultimately might not survive too much use to them.

And, add Greenland to the list with Panama that trumps wants. International diplomacy, or basic geography, seems to be escaping this man’s head.

I wonder what motivates him to try to get Greenland? Forget any of the security arguments, he doesn’t give a damn about those. I suspect he was still very much obsessed with getting stuff to wave in-front of more than just the MAGA dimwits so that he can get praise from people he actually respects (or likes). Being the simpleton he his, I’m guessing land-grabs are what he thinks will pull that off.

There’s also the whole thing of Denmark telling them to “f*** off”, which resulted in the cancellation of a state visit. I don’t think Donnie realises that threatening to not visit a country isn’t the disadvantage he’s hoping for. I fully expect Denmark to say the same again…or maybe even ignore him entirely until he’s willing to act like an adult. That’s what I would do with a child having a temper tantrum like this.

They knew what they were voting for.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,646 ✭✭✭✭Igotadose

Some did. Not enough paid attention. The GOP tried to keep it a secret, but like all things they did so ineptly.

The stories coming out, about the absolute ignorance shown by 'former Democratic voters who voted for Trump,' would be shocking, if one didn't have the worst expectations of the intelligence of the average American.

Wait till the tariff's kick in (if they in fact do) and the Trump-voting small business owners get good and shafted, just like the last time. Or once Linda McMahon gets her claws into the DoE, and guts it.

Fun fact: the future SecEd is on the board of a US college with a campus in Dingle. I expect it'll do well, they'll carve out an exception somehow. Pretty mediocre school by all accounts.

Isn’t their some mad belief that underneath Greenland is a massive amount of minerals for manufacturing like copper and so on?

Not paying attention isn't an excuse when it comes to known quantities. When COVID hit, Trump spent more time inventing racist nicknames for it and telling people to shoot up on bleach than helping real Americans.

The only thing that's changed is that he's clearly deteriorated.

    AOC is funny.

Tulsi Gabbard is a pro war nomination globally. Point blank period

    As is Donald Trump

These people have nothing on Lord Haw-Haw.

Is it any wonder that the mainstream is dying when you have people telling bare faced lies with a straight face and expecting people to swallow it.

Trump the warhawk, Biden the peacemaker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,585 ✭✭✭eightieschewbaccy

Gabbard ran Russian propaganda that was justifying the Ukraine invasion... So nah, not lying at all...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,476 ✭✭✭✭odyssey06

People bare faced telling lies and expecting people to swallow it? You mean like Trump, who has been fact checked and is a proven liar? What count of lies do you think Trump is up to now?

Fact-checkers at  The Washington Post  documented 30,573 false or misleading claims during his presidential term, an average of about 21 per day.

Also established in courts of law that Trump is a liar - he lied about sexual assault, he lied when it came to covering up hush money, fraudulent reporting to dodge taxes. Proven liar.

    Those lies?

Funny how you give a free pass to Trump to come out with however many lies and incoherent self serving drivel as he likes, and you'll defend him. Yet valid opinions on Gabbard bring out this vitriol.

Tulsi Gabbard is a warmonger, anyone who wants to give a free pass to warmongers who launch illegal invasions is a warmonger. Nothing is more likely to lead to more wars than rewarding warmongers. Yeah some people have nothing on Lord Haw Haw for sure.

    The best people.

Trump as a rapist trying to surround himself by people as depraved as himself. Or amoral bootlickers like JD Vance. He probably cant look anyone with any sense of decency in the eye without whatever shred of conscience left in him revolting.

If Epstein was still alive Trump would be pardoning his good buddy and trying to put him into Cabinet.

We can clearly see that Trumps second administration shaping up to be very different to first.
