What's with the hopping

Not sure where to put this but OMG what is going on with boards and the hopping/ moving threads? Evert time I click back in it takes over a minute to settle. Almost not worth the effort especially if I know its only a few new posts there. Is there anything I can do to stop this happening? Thanks
