So there's me finishing my dinner and my security camera pings, with a car pulling up to the house.

Vodafone salesman … "We're connecting in January." says he.

"Sure it was April last week on the NBI site." says I.

"No. We are doing it in January." says he.

"Well not here." says I. "Your router is pile of poo, the annual price increase is a scam and I don't trust door-to-door salesmen! Good day to you sir! I said good DAY!" 😁

So I come back to the laptop and check NBI - I'm Pre-order. ✨

I start checking the other ISPs. Some are happy with pre-order, but still showing April-June though.

I go on the Vodafone website, check the eircode … 5G Mobile Broadband is all that's available!!! 🤣

I've had it in the back of my mind that Digiweb seem to be one of the better ISPs. I know they're not the cheapest (I've been paying Starlink for nearly 3 years now, so am used to spending 💲💲💲), but I prefer a more reliable service with good customer support. I'll be using my own router as well.

I'll keep the Starlink kit set-up, so if there is ever a storm caused lengthy outage, I can bring it back up at short notice.

    Any thoughts on that?

definitely thumbs up from me for Digiweb. Amazing customer service and technical support.

Can also recommend Arden for same reason although I’m not sure if they offer service throughout the country on NBI

Only 2 DAs left in survey pending, couple in progress.
Looks like my DA got revised from jan-dec 26 to jul-dec 26, rip.

Just checked for my area, gone from 2026 to October - December 2025.

NBI van around the area this morning with a person looking at poles

It looks like a lot of the "survey complete" areas are showing jul-dec 26 actually, might just be a stock date they're using.

I've had Digiweb since I went live on NBI (May 2024) and find them excellent. To be fair, I have only needed to contact them once, but that's hardly a criticism. 🙂

I came from eight years of Imagine though, so my bar for customer service was as low as it goes.

Just checked my eircode. Has moved from Jan 26 - Dec 26 to April 25 - June 25.

    Result

Lines went up on the poles about a week after my previous post and anticipated date for connection has moved forward from July - September to April to June 2025 since I checked last week.

    Hi everyone

We are in a new build and have just been included in the roll out. All of our neighbours on all sides have been connected a couple of years. Does anyone have any idea how long we will be waiting to be connected?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,195 ✭✭✭lukin

My anticipated date for connection has now changed to July 2025 - September 2025

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,480 ✭✭✭FastFullBack

This seems to be difficult to figure out. I'm 3 months into a new build in an area due to be connected in the next 6 months. My house is in "Review Underway" status. I've email NBI and asked how long this review takes and got some generic anser that told me nothing. I've had my eircode nearly a year now.

Read back up the thread, I think another post has had a new eircode 18 months is still in similar status.

I'm the same as you. Hang on in there brother 😕

I'm tossing between Pure and Digiweb. Anyone with dealings with these care to throw some pros and cons my way? Thanking you in advance!

Main work was done last saturday (fibre now coiled and in the house). Circet guy said no light however (as expected - lots of pole damage, it was why install date was moved to Jan).

Circet called today again after I saw an NBI van. Re-arranged and brought install date forward to Sat!

I sort of thought the coiled up fibre in the house might show some visible light at the end of the connector (I won't take cap off), but I still don't see any. Guessing fibre light is non-vis (IR?) unless they're actually generating light and testing, so expect it's all grand for Sat? Hopefully anyway.

    Hi all,

My availability date moved from April - June to January to March 2025. Which is great. However we're down a laneway and we have some houses before us and some after us on the line. Everyone else is showing up as "preorder ready" but we're showing January - March. This seems like a glitch as how can people after us be ready but not us..

Have others experienced this and was it worth contacting NBI or just leave it and let it resolve in the date range they've provided?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,060 ✭✭✭✭The Cush

Are you further back from the main line than the other houses? Will your house require a further survey to run the cable from the DP on the road?

If not I'd email for an update.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,749 ✭✭✭irishmover

No the line is running past our front gate to get to other houses further on. It's a cul de sac with 7 houses on it. We are number four on the lane with three past us.

Got the preorder email notification from NBI on Wednesday … and a reminder yesterday … and another today!!!

Slightly annoying … hopefully they stop when I do place my order!

2GB order install completed this morning with Digiweb. Neat install, all good.

Configured and used by UDM-Pro with digiweb@nga.digiweb.ie/digiweb & VLAN ID: 10

About two hours later, network dropped. UDM Pro no longer getting an IP - PON/Data lights fine.

Edit: Tried the Zyxel, red internet light too. Raised a ticket.

Not sure if it's been discussed here before. NBI won't move the fibre box in the house. Bad planning on our part when we moved in but the designated office room/space where we had it installed earlier this year is now going to be a bedroom for a toddler.

It's really not going to work having it in the room but they say they can't move it. Obviously we're happy to pay whatever rhe fee would be.

Anyone ever encounter this issue or know any way around it?

I meant to post yesterday … I'd pre-ordered with Digiweb late on Christmas Eve … I got the call back from them yesterday and placed the order … he reckoned I'd be getting connected mid-February.

Within 45 days is the guide date I got.

    I was 42.

The ComReg broadband checker has been updated with more recent data as of Sept 2024.

Bad news for Eircode R35 RT10 in the exclusion area. Their "Part-Fibre" service has been down-rated from 8.5Mb/s to 3.4 Mb/s…. as if they didn't know already.

@clohamon If that's your eircode it might be best to edit the post.

Not me. More a comment on how arbitrary the intervention mapping is, and how even sub 30Mb/s people are excluded.

@auris12 that is me who @FastFullBack is referring to.

we've been living in the house since december 2023 and have an eircode since spring of 2023. we're still in review underway.

the two neighbours next door are live. a few weeks ago i met the nbi lads on the road the day they were running the cable into the neighbours houses and they said that a survey would be needed. apparently our house hadn't been built at the time the original survey was undetaken (he claimed we were not showing up on google maps which is not the case - we are both on the map and satellite view). another tidbit he said was the black box on the pole was only wired for the two houses but the fella responsible for that aspect should be able to add our house to it. a new pole will be needed.

thankfully starlink has been bullet proof. i can WFH and the lads can surf and watch tv at same time.

Is there any slack on the fibre cable to the ONT box? If so, just move it yourself or get some electrician if needed.

Option B is buy a long cat cable and run it from the ONT box to the router in your new location.

Not sure of your circumstances, but I'll be moving mine soon by running a cat cable to the communication room and will be building a wardrobe around the ONT box. And it can stay where it is.

Just checked with digiweb and I can pre order. Other suppliers I can't order.

According to NBI I'm due for connect around April to June 25.

Anybody else pre order before nbi said it was possible?
