sent cancellation notification on the web form last night - not a big deal, took all of a minute

got an email reply first thing this morning with same offer as last year - €75 for premium sub (didn't mention NY times, but will check that when i email them back tomorrow)

Is anyone considering a family plan for an Irish Times sub, if so, let me know. Thanks.

I am still interested to join if someone is building a plan like that. I am already managing "family plans" for other apps so I'd rather not be the main provider this time :)

I just wandered onto the NYT website and they seem to have a subscription for the year down to €20 for anyone interested. I haven’t signed up myself but seems to include the Athletic also.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 633 ✭✭✭theintern

It does include The Athletic. I signed up a couple of weeks back on a temporary revolut card so it can't renew. Good deal to be fair.

Just make sure you subscribe directly with them. Don't sign up via Google Play subscription. I could't get my sub to work on other devices when I signed up via Google Play so had to cancel and then sign up on the NYT site directly.

Thanks. Yep Ive signed up in the meantime and very happy with it. Includes access to all their separate apps also with the same login so very handy. Must test how many devices can be added over the coming months now to see how I might renew next year with family/friends.

There is also a feature to gift up to 10 articles a month to unsubscribed members which is a neat additional feature.

I also managed to get the renewal Irishtimes subscription for the €75. I had blocked the payment on Revolut, reactivated for the renewal and have now blocked it again in case I forget to cancel. Saved me this year on a renewal at full cost!

I'd be interested in joining an Irish times family sub in case a few people to split it 🙂

If subscribing what do you click for, there seems to be two different Apps. One for the news online and then the digital paper that you can DL.

What one is for €75 that previous subscribers have got?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,460 ✭✭✭ablelocks

mine is €75 for the premium sub - this gives access to the standard app but also to the epaper - a digital replica of the physical newspaper - I read this on the ipad and access the std app on the go on the phone.

note that i've had that rate for a couple of years based on the old annual rate of €150 - annual rate is now €190 looks like.

OK, i'll take the lead on a 'family' plan, 4 spots @ €27 each - preference given in order of those who posted looking for a spot since 29 November, which was after the last person filled a group. I'm going to to it by gift sub, to avoid an auto-renew

    I'm still interested
