I expected a few threads, but one from 2019 !!!

Can you just use them like a MasterCard Debit Card ? So use online anywhere ?

Just not widely available it seems - certainly not in our local SuperValu.

Have used one of them in years, me2you is effectively Payzones copy of one4all.

You can't use them anywhere, it has to be one of their signed on merchants be that in store or online.

If you are buying would suggest that you just buy a prepaid visa which can be used anywhere

Be careful with any kind of these cards. Some have "management fees", so your giftee goes to use it in 6 months time and find there's only 7 quid left.

They are very easy to lose. I know I have lost at least one myself in the past.

If you want to give someone money for christmas I'd suggest revolut them the money or something similar.

And please do not give vouchers.

Any particular branding of prepaid Visa or MasterCard that comes to mind. I can honestly say I haven't come across any.

Swirl through payzone or an post have a foreign exchange card that is effectively a pre paid card

I had a swirl card for a while. The fees were ridiculous.

How else are poor Mastercard going to make money supplying you with a card and the infrastructure supporting it if they can't charge some fees.

You put 100 onto one of these cards, MasterCard takes a few euros. Me2You needs to make some quid, so they take a few euros as well. So the 100 you gifted your loved one, turns out to be more like 90 in spending power to them. And that is me being charitable. Some of them charge admin fees until the card is empty. If they dont use it, the 90 dwindles down to zero.

Agree that you are paying a hefty premium to give prepaid cards, your suggestion of revolut is about the best in terms of value but a lot of ppl don't have revolut.

    Its not Payzone.

Me2You is operated by Retail Excellence Ireland and unlike One4All, they do not rip the retailer off and take a 12.3% net commission.

It is valid in about 8,000 stores including Tesco, Woodies, Smyths and Applegreeen

I use them for my team here and they've never had an issue

If I buy a 100 me2uou card the recipient gets a 100 euro card. I pay a (used to be) €2 fee for activating the card.

Also the fees are applied after 12 months not 6. Not advocating for the cards, just pointing out your info is wrong.
