I've been lucky and careful with foot position and overshoes to not suffer heel rub on my bikes but I often see nice bikes for sale with shiny worn patches on otherwise mint ultegra or dura ace cranks.

Has anyone tried with any success to patch up or restore the original finish?

I'd imagine it would be hard enough to get a good match. Alternatively what about doing this 😁

the greatest mistake shimano ever made was only making groupsets available in black.

silver beats black any day of the week.
