Of course I enjoyed 28 days later. But disliked 28 weeks later (Hated the kids in it)

Now, I know. I know. I KNOW what everyone is gonna say. I get it. But……

It is very "Walking Dead" (Again, I KNOW!): The community rebuilding, factions/religious nutcases etc. But much more intense and looks like it's implemented much better. (I gave up on TWD about half way through. There was a scene where Glen was swarmed by zombies but you KNEW he was gonna be OK 'cos it was half way through the season. Even before that, it was obvious that 80% of episodes were filler so I gave up)

I do like the intensity of this and it's great to have Boyle and Garland back. Hopefully fewer Americans (Nothing against America of course but one of the great things about the original was that it, for once, WASN'T set in America/reliant upon the US to save the day. Was very British - Plus Cillian Murphy, Gleeson et al).

As (another) tangent, I did like the flashback scenes in The Last of Us which were not in the game. Kid of gave me hope that someone could do a proper one season TV series of World War Z: Documentary style with interviews at start and end and then cutting to flashback. Standalone episodes.

Anyway, yeah, I do like the look of this

Did I potentially see the church scene from original movie being created ? (When Jim has just woken up and walks into the church)

Everyone is talking about that and they are tight lipped on Murphy's role so I'de be suspicious about them putting such a big reveal in the trailer. I'de say looks like him on purpose to get people talking and hide the real reveal.

It looks great though. Kinda looks like the high budget Survivors (1975) reboot I will never get.

Wow, I didn’t know about the release of the third part... it’s coming out in 2025, well, we’ll wait. Cool. It’s one of the few zombie movies I liked.
28 Days Later was just amazing, but the second part wasn’t that great, I think like many others.

There’s also a third sequel already shot (back-to-back with this), and Murphy is involved in that too, so it seems very likely he’ll have a bigger role to play than just a zombie cameo.

A real shame so many gave up on TWD at that point. It got a big improvement when Kang took over but the damage had been done.

    Is that Jim

A ‘zombie’ in 28 Years Later (Sony Pictures)

He might not be a zombie but just lost a few pounds here and there.

Always thought they would of done 28 months later to be fair before this. I suppose if they done that, could be done with Cillian Murphy's character.

So has Rage mutated? We shouldn't be seeing any zombies*, Cillian or otherwise.

    *as in traditional, undead zombies.

I'm a bit critic of modern trailers. The normally just show you the entire movie including twists here and there.

This is how a trailer should be. Show you the movie is going to be cool, build atmosphere but without giving the game away.

Class trailer, really looking forward to this, didnt know Cillian murphy was going to be in it. Unlike some, I thought the second was pretty good too, liked Robert Carlyle in it.

I cant remember the last time I saw a good film in the cinema, this is giving some optimism for 2025 anyways

I’d heard some people discuss possible twists , I’m not sure if this is credible rumour or just bantz so only read on if you want to think about possibilities.

But I believe there is a trilogy planned and it was suggested Jim could start out a zombie but there is a potential cure or change of virus in some form. The original ending of 28 was supposed to be a full blood transfusion from I think frank to Jim, where in essence Jim saves Frank’s life and Jim is a zombie.

While that was ditched , they might still try and use the concept of a person being infected but somehow cured or changed….

That trailer grows on me more and more I watch it. The voice is creepy as Fk, is that some poem or children’s show that the words are from?

I also am probably over confident here. I usually lower expectations for movies I’m looking forward to, but this is my 2025 top looking forward to list. The cast, the director , the writer , kind of feels like it will be hard to not hit a proper home run….

Personally and with not wanting to start on thread nonsense, I don't consider 28DL or 28WL to be zombie movies simply because those infected with rage aren't technically dead. Yes they are in a "zombie" state ie driven to kill by the virus with no consideration for anything else but my definition of what a zombie is starts and stops with Romeros original Trilogy of the Dead.

"That trailer grows on me more and more I watch it. The voice is creepy as Fk, is that some poem or children’s show that the words are from?"

It's an early recording of Boots, a poem by Rudyard Kipling.

My point is that there appears to be an undead type zombie in the trailer, so either Rage has mutated or there is a new virus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,148 ✭✭✭silliussoddius

Or the infected have a limited life, it’s not as if they’re able to cook for themselves.

Well this was established in 28 weeks later where they had all died off from starvation. Virus was only still active with Robert Carlyle’s wife who was immune from the rage but still had the virus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,657 ✭✭✭Mr Crispy

Yeah, we know that from the first movie. But surely that isn't just a starving infected in the trailer?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,334 ✭✭✭✭breezy1985

If you mean "Jim" the way he rises up looks artificial like as if he is being used as a scarecrow or something. So could be a dead zombie.

That must be Nigel with the brie...

There is a director, I forget which one, but he would film extra footage just for trailers that would not appear in the film in order to avoid spoilers.

Can't wait for this. Loved both days and weeks (but surprised they didn't do a months as suggested above).

Remember watching 28 Days Later in the Stella in Rathmines (before it got fancy). Went with my flatmate who ordinarily likes rom-coms, but was eager to see it. After a few minutes of watching rage infected monkeys attack activists he whispers to me 'are Hugh Grant and Sandra Bullock not in this one'….thought he'd gone to see 2 Weeks Notice!😅

Reminds me of TBBT when Penny tricked Sheldon into watching 28 Days (a Sandra Bullock film) by making him think it was 28 Days Later. He kept asking when the zombies were going to show up 😂
