    Driver standings:

    1. Max Verstappen - 429
    2. Lando Norris - 349
    3. Charles Leclerc - 341
    4. Oscar Piastri - 291
    5. Carlos Sainz - 272
    6. George Russell - 235
    7. Lewis Hamilton - 211
    8. Sergio Perez - 152
    9. Fernando Alonso - 68
    10. Nico Hulkenberg - 37
    11. Pierre Gasly - 36
    12. Yuki Tsunoda - 30
    13. Lance Stroll - 24
    14. Esteban Ocon - 23
    15. Kevin Magnussen - 16
    16. Alexander Albon - 12
    17. Daniel Ricciardo - 12
    18. Oliver Bearman - 7
    19. Franco Colapinto - 5
    20. Zhou Guanyu - 4
    21. Liam Lawson - 4
    22. Valtteri Bottas - 0
    23. Logan Sargeant - 0

Of note - Charles is only 8 points behind Lando, so that race is definitely live. At the bottom, Jack Doohan will finish behind Logan Sargeant unless he gets points (Logan's best is an 11th, so matching this won't bump Doohan ahead of him).

    Constructors standings:

    1. McLaren Mercedes - 640
    2. Ferrari - 619
    3. Red Bull Racing Honda RBPT - 581
    4. Mercedes - 446
    5. Aston Martin Aramco Mercedes - 92
    6. Alpine Renault - 59
    7. Haas Ferrari - 54
    8. RB Honda RBPT - 46
    9. Williams Mercedes - 17
    10. Kick Sauber Ferrari - 4

21 points between McLaren and Ferrari is not insurmountable, but McLaren have to be favourites. Red Bull are locked in 3rd, Mercedes are locked in 4th.

Barring a miracle which won't happen, Aston will stay 5th. It's close then between Alpine, Haas and RB - you have to assume RB will continue to be terrible so it's a toss-up between Haas and Alpine - I think Haas are slight favourites to get more points, but they need to get 6 more than Alpine (as Alpine have the podium as best result).

William will be 9th, Sauber will be 10th.

There's also a championship showdown in F2. There's only half a point separating Hadjar and Bortoleto so that's something to watch aswell

Arthur LeClerc is in Carlos's car for FP1, yep, the brother of Charles. Bunch of other rookies taking part of this session too.

Loads of Rookies taking part in the Free Practice 1 now.

Charles Leclerc and his brother Arthur are driving the Ferrari cars in the same session.

Problems with Charles's car so he's still to get out unfortunately. Interesting his brother is showing up as LEL in the driver list graphic, suppose they couldn't have two LEC.

Looks like LeClerc will have a grid penalty for Sunday. Power unit to be replaced I believe

Oh that's a kick in the teeth for his push for 2nd (and Ferrari's push for the constructor's).

It's his ERS, 10 place penalty. Confirmed here:

Rolling my eyes listening to Crofty during FP2 - he’s banging on about 2021 again and the safety car. For. ****. Sake. Move on lad.

Garaunteed to bring it up every session, either directly or through some kind of remark.

And that is very much the end of any hopes for Ferrari winning the WCC.

Simon Lazenby, Danica Patrick and Anthony Davidson on the f1 show today.

Got to watch one minute before little monster went mad. Sainz engine was looked to be throwing out smoke. Yikes.

I thought Sky had got rid of Brundle.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,943 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Thankfully not. He doesn’t do all the races anymore, probably a combination of cost cutting and trying to bring in other pundits for the future. Would be good if his son Alex gets a more permanent gig on the main broadcast, he’s very good.

Just turned in. Jesus help us it’s nico rosberg and Danica Patrick, two people who can used loads of words and actually say the square root of **** all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,558 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Alex Jacques is leaving the F2 commentary gig so I'd be surprised if Alex Brundle wasn't first in line for that

Perez gets his lap time back - strange, but looked like the correct call.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,943 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,558 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Hamilton's final start with the Merc from 18th - ouch

The bollard really messed him up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,092 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

KMAG playing Mario Kart there, hit a bollard under Hamilton which he kept under there for quite some time.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,943 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Kmag punted the bollard onto the track and Lewis collected it. How unlucky is that.

lol of course it was Kmag
