Try scorer ahead of the kicker there surely. TMO says not

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,691 ✭✭✭testtech05

Pity we couldn't finish one of those 2 big breaks. We were hanging in there even with Jansen so could be a long 2nd half

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,095 ✭✭✭randomname2005

Connacht down to 14 after stupid elbow by SJansen. Doing well at times but 14 down.

As a Connacht support it seems that most of the 50/50 decisions are going against Connacht but maybe just frustration biasing things. Struggling with the player down. Will be a long 2nd half

Maybe TMO looked more in the background but it didn't seem like they looked at it enough to decide

    Thanks for getting back,

It might be more of an indictment on me aswell as Connacht that I was looking for an update on the new stand rather than the game!

Or the beers had during the Irish game lead to a mis read!

It's going to be a thumping. We are down a back and they have pace from 9-15.

They'll just go with the pack and draw us in and then put it out wide and we have no hope of defending it.

Working manfully to stay in this but could get ugly later in the game as we tire.

    Edit: or maybe sooner

Poor enough by Jennings there for a 3rd try. This looks like it could get ugly

Bucks and Heffernan look absolute done at this level. Great servants but other lads need to step-up.

Forde taken out late 2 phases before that intercept. Lack of numbers killing us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,691 ✭✭✭testtech05

Should be a red for bulls now too for fingers in the eyes.

Ridiculous decision the Tmo trying to say it isn't dangerous first

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,369 ✭✭✭SqueakyKneecap

Referee did well to ignore the TMO. Woeful officiating to think that was only grabbing the nose.

Big ban on the way for their 8

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,095 ✭✭✭randomname2005

How the TMO doesn't know that it is general eye area is shocking and maybe explains the inconsistency with TMO involvement

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 338 ✭✭AccidentallyOnside

Any time we give Hawkshaw a chance he does well. Cracking player for us

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,095 ✭✭✭randomname2005

But it was only the nose, no harm done, according to the TMO. /Sarcasm

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,095 ✭✭✭randomname2005

Ref correctly penalised Connacht for offside earlier in the game, but just a shout at the bulls and then they turn it over.

Nicely worked try. We have had some lovely moments in attack. Pity the red killed us.

Showed a lot of fight in the 2nd half and a LBP would have been probably deserved in the end

Ref let Bulls away with calling lineout numbers all game nearly. He didn't clamp down early enough.

Fairplay to the lads they kept going even at 28-0. Hawky, Boyler, Illo and Bladey all excellent off the bench. Shame to see Bolton limp off.

Not the result we were after but with our 4 internationals out, against a good team, down to 14 players for the majority of the game I think there's some positives in that game.

Jennings was good at FB, scrum stood up well, Boyle was excellent when he came on as were others like illo and Hawkshaw.

Could have done with a result there but let's see some more of the squad in parker pen cup to see who else is a live option for bigger games.

another Wilkins masterclass. if he manages to change players like last season he will get it right in the end

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,254 ✭✭✭ElisaAtWar

or maybe Pete, just pick a goddam team and show some faith.

If we had 15 v 15 I think we'd have won it. We took over when It went 14 v 14.

Forde had a great game again. Illo, Hawshaw and Blade all played well from the bench.

There were some good performances in that outing.

Id like to see a team like this for the weekend.

    Duggan Heffernan Aungier

    Joyce Murray

    Josh shl Boyle

    Devine Forde

    Bolton Hawkshaw poc porch/Smith

    Jennings

Totally disagree. Bulls took the foot off the gas after their 4th try and comfortably won. They were much the better side over the full 80 minutes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,852 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

So they scored an early try against 15 and the other three against 14. Once it went 14 on 14 they lost 14-0.

But yeah, they took their foot off the gas like all teams do. 🙄

Of all the nations in the world South African teams are know for trying to continue scoring right up until the final whistle.

Zebre won against Osprey (22-17) at home. Connacht must not let your guard down. It seems that they have made big progress since last season.

I agree these fifteens. And if possible Connacht should use Prendergast as a starter.

Hard to know what way team selection will go this week. I think I'd prioritise giving Sean Naughton his debut in a strong team, while taking the opportunity to rest some of our more heavily raced players.

15-9; 1-8: Jennings, Bolton, O'Conor, Hawkshaw, Smith, Naughton, Blade; Duggan, Tierney-Martin, Aungier, Dowling, D Murray, Murphy, Hurley-Langton, O'Brien

16-23: Heffernan, Buckley, Barrett, N Murray, McCormack, M Devine, Ioane, J Devine
