it definitely isn’t right, we put a deposit down on a GTX plus today at 40k.

Current price is correct, spoke with my dealer today who confirmed the price is correct and the car is built waiting to be shipped out of Emden port. I purchased a id3 gtx.

My 4 year old id3 is giving me 350km during the winter, summer time 400km. No Degradation on my battery with 65000km

Must be a 55km high mountain somewhere in UK I didn't know about.

That video is either someone that hasn't a clue, is being deliberately misleading or has a very sick car.

Send the link to the video and we'll tell you which it is

Ok, so he seems to be doing multiple 3 mile tests and heating the cabin before he takes off and then just repeating over and over. Note that video is over 3 years old too, he'd get even more slated now than he did even then, read the comments.

He saw a figure of 1 mile per kWh at one point in time and used that to come up with 58 miles range. To bring that to our measurements that would be 60kwh per 100kms which is a figure I have never seen displayed on my cupra born (identical mechanically to id3) and I haven't even seen it on my Etron which is waaay more inefficient!

The coldest weather last week I finished my slow commute home 10kms in Dublin suburbs at rush hour and was showing about 24kwh/100kms for the journey and that would give full range at about 230kms, which would be about right because I got 200kms between charges that week. That's heat on, seats heated, steering wheel heated, sitting in traffic not going very fast at all, stopping and starting. And that's as bad as it can get.

My long term range is 15.9 kWh/100kms, it was actually 15.7 last month so the cold weather is pulling it up a bit. That's over 40000kms in 2.5 years I've had the car.

Moral of the story is if you want to make YouTube videos to show range of 100kms you can manipulate circumstances and stats to do so, if you want to make one to show 400kms range you could also do this.

Mine is a 58kwh battery, 16kwh/100kms average over 2 years for my driving style gives range of approx 330kms on average. So my 200 last week has been balanced by some near 400 in summer warm weeks with less traffic and different trips.

Don't worry, if you buy a healthy id3 you won't be getting 100kms range unless you try.

Very silly. Do not base your opinion on the car from this video.

Your battery has degraded, if you haven't noticed then fair enough, but time is time and chemistry degradation is irreversible

My stuff on Adverts, mostly Tesla Pre Highland Model 3

Are you buying as a business? The GTX Perf Plus + Heat Pump is €45k.

I wouldnt bother with the heat pump at €1275. The VW heat pump was known to not be great in the 1st editions, not sure if they have really improved it. And its just not required in our climate and particularly with the range this car has.

In just a normal private buyer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,334 ✭✭✭✭KCross

The private buyer price for GTX Perf plus + Heat pump would be just shy of €42k. Business customers pay more due to smaller grant.

Plus 1. I posted the actual cost a few posts back. €40,850’ish plus dealer charges.

So what's the case for the equivalent ID3 at 42k vs the Model 3 at 37k?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,334 ✭✭✭✭KCross

The ID.3 GTX Perf plus is €40k (actually €40,420, but that includes an optional service, so €40k is the OTR price). The M3 is €37.5k, so only €2.5k between them

They each have pros and cons as discussed in the thread. It will mainly be down to personal likes and dislikes rather than one being better than the other.

Some just dont like Tesla. Some just dont like ID.3…. go figure! 😀

This had me thinking. That's a ~5k difference, no?

I think if you compare basic Tesla to ID.3 with some options then you are right. Why not add a colour and larger alloys to Tesla then T3 RWD is at least 41.832 and difference is very small. Why not consider basic GTX then with basic T3?

You can spec either car differently to create a bigger or smaller gap. I'm just going off the base price.

The HP is an optional extra in the VW and its not a very good option in terms of price and efficiency. The VW HP is known to be poor.

had a look at this on the VW website.

For a 12k deposit, it’s coming out at 250 odd euro a month on a three year pcp. Seems incredibly well specced and very cheap performance at that money .
    Am I missing something ?

I don't think so, we cross shopped it against the EX30 (great to drive but small interior and software is a poor mans Tesla) and EV3 (nice drive, good interior space but interior felt a bit low rent in Earth 2 spec) and it seems like the best choice for us. It will come with the version 5 hardware/software which based on what I saw in the ID.7 seems to work well, along with the upgraded battery and rear motor. Seems great value but proof will be in the pudding!

It is what it is. You still owe ~19k as a lump sum at the end of the term if you don't take out a new PCP contract with VW. The small monthly payment creates an illusion of affordability.

M3 indicators I got used to, even on roundabouts with the wheel upside down (the right indicator points inward toward the centre of the steering wheel) My problem is trying to flash the lights to thank a car for letting me cross mid turn 😅

Enhance Auto have pre orders for custom stalks, just got the knob myself on black friday deal to see what it's like.

The S3XY buttons lads didn't engineer the pull/push function into their stalks retrofit, but it will still be useful for those who miss the indicator stalk or drive select stalk. The drive select stalk is badly missed in my opinion, swiping for drive or reverse doesn't feel intuitive, it's slower, and it's easy to mis-swipe.

If I ever buy a M3H or MY Juniper, the S3XY Stalks with be my first accessory purchase.

what did you go for in the end? Are they still doing HP 0%? What would cash price be then?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 891 ✭✭✭Zurbaran

I'm surpised these are so cheap in comparrison to the born and compared to uk prices.

in comparison what are these like compared to the model 3 noise and comfort wise?

not a fan of the arm rests, are they good in use?

it’ll be interesting to see the sales numbers on the m3 and gtx compare over the course of the year - the highland has a lot of exposure, but VW have the dealer network and a lot of people walking in the door
