It's a bit like an AIL game.. tbe mountain in the background is a lovely back drop

The pitch isn't in the best of shape.

Good bp win by Glasgow. Out of S. Africa with 7 pts isn't a bad return.

It's a great return. They have to be odds on favourites to top the league at this point.

The cape town stadium was unavailable today due to the cape town country music festival being held there this weekend. Which unfortunately looks set to be rained out tomorrow anyways.

A brief return for the URC this weekend before the European fortnight.

The bad news is that FTA TV coverage has been unfortunately decimated due to clashes, with two fixtures that should have been live FTA demoted to the respective player services.

    Friday 7:35pm
Ulster v Leinster BBC Two NI Premier 1 RTE Player

Glasgow v Scarlets BBC Two Wales Premier 2

    Saturday

    3pm Sharks v Stormers (Delay, Premier 1, 2am)

    5:15pm Cardiff v Dragons Premier 2

    5:30pm Connacht v Bulls RTE2 Premier 1

    7:35pm Munster v Lions Premier 1 TG4 Player

    7:35pm Zebre v Ospreys S4C

    7:35pm Edinburgh v Treviso Premier 2

Practically everyone in Ireland has access to BBC NI, so the Ulster v Leinster game will be available FTA.

In fairness to TG4 they've coverage of (checks schedule) the elections… Sigh! But they only have one linear TV channel. RTE have 3 linear channels, I don't know what else they're showing opposite the Irish game but they have no excuse

they’re showing the Ireland women’s soccer team which is fair enough I think

The clash is with football, UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 playoff between Republic of Ireland v Wales, which RTE have elected to prioritise.

There is election exit poll coverage later (at 9:55pm) but not till well after both games have finished.

And yes I’m not sure why they can’t show it on the News Channel - on election day, at least till the polls close, all the news typically has to tiptoe around the fact that there’s an election going on!

The reporting moratorium has been removed. Previously coverage would have had to stop at 2pm today.

Yes sorry that's what I meant by "the Irish game" as the Irish (rugby) is on Saturday at 3.10pm

The obvious solution is to show the news on the news channel (see what I did there) and the Rugby and Soccer can share the other 2 channels. it is completely fair that they show a national team in place of 2 regional ones. It's likely the BBC coverage influenced the decision as well

TG4 are broadcasting election coverage all day Saturday but taking a break for at 3pm for a GAA highlights program and Aussie Rules at 5.15pm.

It seems Zebre are done after this season, with an expectation a new Italian franchise will join in their place. Likeliest option seems to be a new franchise in Padua (about 2 hours away from Parma (where Zebre are located) and closer to Venice).

Some Italian industrialist is ready to pump in €5m a year into the new franchise.

Bit of a bizarre location no? They'll be right on top of Benetton.

    Yeah, they're about 55km apart.

Strange in a country of that size to only have two teams and have them essentially on top of each other, but right now that's described as the likeliest location for a new franchise.

Not that strange, it's just the rugby heartland of Italy. Like the south west of France on a much smaller scale. Probably better to have a proper derby.

As far as I can tell it's essentially just moving the Zebre franchise with the same team name and players.

Ospreys have given Toby Booth the boot with immediate effect. He had been due to go at the end of season.

Doesn't seem a great move re fans though. It's moving the team far enough away from the small but dedicated fan base they had, that there's a risk of losing them due to travel. So now in Padova the club is looking for a new fan base in an area closer to an already established club. The game is up north there for sure, but Milan direction would be better in terms of spreading the pro teams about

I presume they'll just sort of merge with Petrarca rugby whose Megabucks owner is pulling the strings on this. That would essentially promote them from Serie A to the URC. The other big team in the same area is Rovigo, Petrarca's big rivals.

Stormers start with Libbok at 10 and Sacha FM at 12

Libbok missed the first conversion to the left. Missed the 2nd conversion to the right. 3rd conversion hit the upright. No idea why Sacha wasnt kicking instead. Then Sacha went off injured.Lions with 14 men since first half. But they did just score.

Yeah, Libbok was awful off the tee, but overall was very good. Is Sacha made of glass ?.

Edinburgh are crap but Glasgow have been good all the same. Leinster will need to beat them to have chance of topping the regular season table I think

Edinburgh vs Glasgow is terrible. 3-0 after 60 minutes with Glasgow looking surprisingly poor in attack.

Edinburgh have been much better than last weekends derby when they capitulated early. Much more physical and have dominated territory. But they're also so poor in attack and don't look likely to score from open play despite all the good attacking ball they've had in the 22. Which just shouldn't be the case when you have Darcy Graham and DVdM in the team.
