External Alarm box went off when alarm not set

I have a Pyronix Deltabell Plus fitted to a Siemens Vanderblit spc4320 control panel (about 6 years old).

The external bell just started going off but the alarm was not set. The siren didnt keep alarming constentantly, it was ringing for a few seconds then stopping for maybe a second and then it would go off again. There was no pattern to the stop/starting of it.

I checked the keypad and there were no notifications on it. Unsure how to stop it since the alarm was not set, I entered full engineer mode. It did not stop straight away but when i was scrolling through the menu and got to test it stopped. I did not enter the test menu so I dont know if it was coincidence that it stopped. It hasnt done it again.

Any ideas? The bell is south facing and right up under the soffit. Granted we have had a lot or rain but the sun is shining directly on it today.

It could be water has got into the bell causing a short and has dried off now.

I had one a few years ago I had to seal the top lid with silicone to stop the rain getting in at it.

Thanks. Something like that or condensation was the only thing I could think of. I may have to get up the ladder and take a look at it to see if the alarm wire has a drip loop or not. Its under a soffit so shouldnt be getting much direct rain on top.

Do you know if putting the panel into full engineer mode will disable the tamper alarm on the bell box?

Once you open the cover of the deltabell it will go off regardless, wear some ear protection. The tamper springs in the older units are poor enough and tend to break

You would need to but as pointed out, when you open the lid the tamper will activate and it is loud.

If the keypad didnt indicate the external bell tamper after turning it off, it could also be an issue with the bell module itself.

    Thanks both!
