Will we get any System Of A Down or Rage Against The Machine while we're at it?

After the grimness of the last 12 hours, really needed that Kristofferson/Prine double.

Creedo has a very handy gig for himself in RTE. Do you remember when he replaced Val Joyce on late date and kept sulking on air until he got an earlier show?

Was John aware that Joe Chester’s ‘Bleed To Love Her’ is a cover?

Not a patch on the original…

    Great song from Nick Cave.

High time he played in Dublin.

    I’ll see myself out.

That War On Drugs song is another piss break song.

I'd probably play one of those long Epica song in the same situation.

I'm sure he played that 'All in Good Time' song at least nine times, he was playing it a lot.

The more you listen to the Boomtown Rats, the more you realise just how influenced they were by Springsteen. ‘

‘Joey’s On The Streets Again’ is essentially the ‘Born To Run’ album condensed into four minutes.

Weird, was just thinking the same thing, very Springsteen-y.

Hearing Jim Morrison’s voice always puts me in mind of the not-too-dissimilar dulcit tones of Glenn Danzig. 🙂

Same, I was sure it was on loads during the summer. It drove me nuts actually, I cant listen to it anymore.

Interesting stats - did New Order really do a Tutti Frutti cover?

No, they just happened to have a tune with the same name. It's on the Music Complete album, which is excellent!

Fantastic work! May we see the full spreadsheet please? For us nerds

Thanks, the analysis is definitely making me feel old. I don't know any of the top eight songs at all at all.

Nice work. I'm a little surprised not to see the B-52s on there. Nothing has me rushing towards the Off button faster than when he plays Rock Lobster for the umpteenth time. Also Television, War on Drugs and Future Islands not there - maybe he's mixing it up a little more this year.

Yes John, a ‘listener’ requested ‘May You Never’ by John Martyn.

Didn't know Pogues had covered Neil Diamond.

Are you saying that in 13 years, he's played 104 Bowie tracks? Less than one a month?

Interesting to see it laid out like that, and different to what I thought. I suppose it's the nature of it that he could play Dylan or Bowie once a week and it wouldn't seem excessive. On the other hand if he played the Dandy Warhols or Kaiser Chiefs once a month it would seem like too much, especially when it's nearly always the same song.

I think it's missing a fair few playlist submissions. Perhaps a more accurate number is to add on an additional 25% of each figure (I just scraped the available playlists from the RTE website)
