Any of that Lisdowney team called into the Kilkenny panel? They seem to have beat a very strong Borris team...who are their standout players?

Rathnure and lisdowney in the same grade 20 years ago would have been unimaginable. How things have changed.

Wexford park being the venue will probably be a slight advantage to rathnure but lisdowney are a very even consistent team.

Ya have to give credit to the boro, another underage titles. There has to be alot of head scratching as to why they can't translate it to senior. Some good hurlers on that team. I thought niall Rowe got a raw deal with the county.mikey Walsh had alot of the young lads and they were happy to get him. He also brought in a strong back room team. This year was a really sore one. The weird thing is they probably hurled better when it was 15. The way boro reacted I don't know who's idea it was but it was very poor and something like we seen in the minor final

Lisdowney and rathnure should be a cracker. Niall brennan is sitting back but hurling very well. Freshford will also go far because they have scoring forwards. Donnelly, hickey and mahers all good hurlers

Paul Cody from Clara declined to go into the county which a shame. He also got a raw deal when he was in. There's a few lads who declined invites something that never happened before. It's a big year for lyng and probably his last. he can no longer rely on codys team. He has being criticised a good bit already for being too Conservative. What I'm hearing about Peter o Donovan isn't great either, boring and nothing new with drills.I dunno if he good enough. Noel Doherty will be a help,at least he knows what he's doing. I know for a fact that some club teams have better preparation for matches. We are over achieving. We can just hope Doherty and declan Wall are allowed work with players and bring something fresh and new to the table. It's very stale and boring.

Here's a good one, St James who Rathnure beat in Wexford Intermediate Final were Junior B in 2009, while Rathnure's 2nd team made the Intermediate finals of 2007&08. Yeah both Senior and Intermedaite Leinster finals next weekend have the potential to be good games.

everyone seems to be fierce worried about the Boro. We are winning titles and the big one will come with a good management team in place.

People always mention the boro because they have a massive pick of players hoover up a load of underage titles all up along yet still haven’t produced a decent player for Kilkenny since c Buckley they should be producing as many players for Kilkenny as olg in my opinion

They frustrate me as club because they have all the tools and resources just fail to deliver time after time it can’t always be the managers fault

There serial underachievers when it comes to senior hurling

You have other clubs with a quarter of the pick that the Boro have producing better players and winning senior titles

Would you blame Paul Cody Lyng dropped him and Cathal Beirne before the Leinster Final. Cathal Beirne also declined an invite I heard. You would have to wonder why players are refusing the call in. Man management would have to be called into question. Obviously not one of Derek Lyng strong points. There a lads left in there that Paul Cody and Darragh Corcoran are streets ahead of but if you're not one of the favoured few you haven't a chance. On the Peter Donovan point he hasn't been good enough for the last two years he's probably hoping Noel Doherty will save him his blushes and then take full credit if anything good happens

Anyone listen to the commentary on clubber yesterday for the u21 A final I had to mute it because of the bias against the village. I believe it was Tommy Hackett if you are going to be a commentator there's two teams not just you're own club. It was a cringe festival.

I believe there's 8/9 minors on that team/panel Krazy. Also happy Christmas to Village 87 some good news coming your way 🎅

Any reason given why it's in Wexford park? Given it's a final, I thought it'd have been a neutral venue eg Dr Cullen Park...

Any report on the match Comerman? Few good hurlers on both teams. Anyone stick out, just going off the updates Tullogher were well up

Wasn't there to my shame Village 🤫 there are a few good club hurlers on the comer team that I've seen how many are at county level is a different scenario though, maybe 2/3 good enough for a run.

this is for marroned I stoped posting because people like you have no clue what it takes to win a county senior championship in kilkenny

We got to county semie final a got hammered but grateful we done so well this year

The Boro for the last few years have won leagues with chaps very unlucky against the great shamrocks this year there young players panicked noting to do with the management in fairness to get the young players so far I have being told the lost 5 or 6 from last year

Maybe you might know the word on the street is that changes were made behind Micky Walsh back and the trainer and this has being going on all year

From where we’re standing all we can see is Micky Walsh training boro teams year after year to success did he not train 3 teams in the one year to county titles

He again had them competive after loosing so many players it’s only a few years since village beat them in semie final look at them now

If the trainer of the cork senior team not good enough for you it takes time to develop players to win senior

How many players in under 21 got senior playing time last year

ye but the management team lost there train of thought completely at a vital time over squabbling on the line that’s hardly good management is it?

Lisdowney are a fairly even team, with no real superstars out the field. Michael Kenny, Niall Brennan, Pat O’ Carroll and Brian Kavanagh are probably their strongest players. Kevin Sweeney was their best/most consistent player this year from games I saw but him and the other midfielder from the county final David O’ Carroll have missed the Leinster campaign. Manager mentioned on KCLR that David may make an appearance yet but Kevin is out long term.

Dylan Jordan will be suspended, him and Michael Kenny get forward a lot for scores so will be a miss.

Game Saturday was a good standard especially in the first half on pitch that seemed to have a good bit of surface water when lads when down to rise the ball. Pat O’ Carroll and Richie McEvoy did a lot of damage in first half in the half forward line against Borris Kilcotton. Some of the Borris backs were a little on the slow side and they were able to open them up when heading direct for goal. Borris had some very good forwards that were a real handful.

Unless Niall Brennan gets called back in don’t think they’ll have any county panellists other than Aidan Tallis.

Sounds like lots of problems for the Boro - as a club - to sort out.

For all their success underage, there seems to be a serious lack of steel amongst their players and an obvious lack of leadership on the field when the pressure is on.

I thought this year they looked to be timing their run well but - again - fell apart at the wrong time.

If half the above posts are right, the club will have to have a serious look at themselves to allow these things to be happening, but then again maybe that's as good as they are!!

Leinster council seem to play all the Intermediate and Junior finals as home/away and doesn't matter if it's neighbouring counties or not, I agree myself final should be a neutral venue unless the 2 clubs involved are happy to do home/away.

No Village, I haven't seen any of the lads since.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭Hurlingtothebone

2 or 3 Kilkenny lads on their Fitzgibbon team last year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 410 ✭✭Krazy gang

Played OK. Didn't light it up though. Scored 2 - 1 for úl last night at full forward. Have to play him at 14 at inter County because he does lack pace.
