Working out tax

For a full year (typically where you start employment in the middle of the year you pay less tax for a period due to receiving a full year's tax credits and standard rate band to use against effectively a fraction of a year's pay), here's what my spreadsheet shows for a single month in 2024:

If you had no other employment during 2024 and are starting now, the figure would be greater (no tax or USC would be deducted due to the start date being so late in the year) - it's a bit of a guess but here's the value assuming that you are first paid in November:

It uses macros so only works on Excel for PC - it won't work on mobile devices, any web browser or Apple devices.

It sounds great doesn't it.....but the reality is different. After all that study and commitment youshould reasonably be able to expect an independent life. Rent a small flat, basic car, a holiday, pay bills and save a bit. But the reality is nearly 2k if he/she wants to rent their own flat. Eats it all up.
