Don’t you have to be friends with somebody to see their pictures?

Or do you mean somebody stalking their ex’s profile? Or the neighbours wife/daughter/cat…

    Yes exactly.

The amount of data and information these companies have on individuals, I wonder what the fallout would be if it was ever released.

The fallout would be rather insignificant, life would just go on

I’m not so sure. TMI is probably not all that helpful.

All tech companys in america sell their data to data brokers including tik tok, any company can buy that user data from a data broker including the fbi, theres basically no user data privacy law in america

its not like the eu where there,s laws on user data privacy .Apple has options on the iphone where you can opt out of user data tracking on the apps you use ,eg switch off data tracking.

theres no usa version of eu GDPR .

if you use american apps and websites like tik tok you have to realise that companys are probably buying your data what videos you watch what you post on reddit.

Also mobile phone companys keep records of your location when you use your phone .

google has stopped using political ads in the eu as the data privacy regulations are so complex .

it’s certainly less interesting then maybe a year ago.

The creative element has shrunk. Had a look there, just a load of randomers playing video games watching TV and saying whatever random shît..and believing other tiktok users find that interesting. How ? Why ?

I got a comment deleted today without being sanctioned….. a message to my inbox saying my comment ‘was against community guidelines’ …

I was talking about a sports person and complimented them, next thing it’s deleted in double quick time by whatever algorithm… I wrote “ he’s in great shape for his age and still playing well “ or words close to that… it was deleted a seconds later and I get a non warning message to my inbox just saying it’s been deleted cause ‘ community guidelines…. ‘ but confirming no sanction on my account…. Sooooo ? 🤔 my comment was deleted because I said a nice thing…?

Aside from the occasional useful instructional or educational video, as others have said could be a plot to cripple the West, mainly by negative impact on the neuroplasticity of developing brains (sub-25yrs).

Coupled with a steady revenue stream from advertisers in a post legacy/print media world, feeding of the infinate dopamine feedback loops.
