We decided that Dublin is too expensive for gigs and accommodation these days so we opted to see then in Belfast. Was there on Sunday night. F##king class! Great energy, great vibe. Enjoy the show!

I'm in tonight buddy, I'll let you know. Think it's supposed to be doors 7, Chalk 7.45, Idles 9. Excited now, Belfast looked great.

thanks for this info. Chalk are a great support act! Cannot wait for this tonight, saw them years ago in Iveagh Gardens but they’ve had two (I think) great albums since that. Enjoy everyone!

look out for “I’m so happy” t shirt and say hello any fellow boardsie

Third time lucky for me. Last two gigs I'd tickets to were cancelled.

Didn't realise my tickets were in the gods, but happy enough to be here.

Chalk showed a lot of promise with their last song, but was very much 'wall of noise' up to that point for me. Sometimes swans, sometimes underworld.

MUCH prefer the songs where the electronica backs up the guitar and drums rather than the other way round. There were times when it might as well have been the singer on stage on his own with the little black box. When they get the balance right though, it's powerful stuff.

Edit: lovely shout out for them from Joe Talbot, very complimentary and heartfelt.

Jasysus. The Circle is like a Ryan Air Flight. I've swapped seats twice. But all good if everyone is with their mates.

Wow, just wow, I'm wading through a treacle of love coming out of that gig.

There's very very few who can do that like idles.

Agreed Syd. Masters of their particular craft. An unmatchable singalong mosh. Great stuff, great songs. A lotta love there tonight.

As advertised fourmations, doors 7, Chalk 7.45 till 8.30, Idles 9 till 11. Great bang for your buck. Queue even for the upper circle at 7! Enjoy it, I'd go again if I could, brilliant night.

What time would you want to be queuing to get a pass for the pit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,751 ✭✭✭s8n

I'm down here now, its freezing but will be worth it !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 655 ✭✭✭fillup

I was in the queue at 5 which was stupid early but I thought there might be more of the fanatical Idles AF Gang queuing early but there wasn't

At that time I was 4th in the queue

Some friends arrived at 6 and were only a couple of spots behind me

But of course could be different tonight

Though the cold weather will deter people from queuing early I reckon

got there for half 6 and got a pit pass no problem.

What a show, I'd managed to miss them before this, won't be making that mistake again. The energy and love buzz was unreal.

I've never clicked with Idles (despite them being right in my ballpark) but you lot are making me regret that, getting fomo reading these posts 🤣

They were incredible last night, poor crowd at point chatting during some of the newer songs bar gift horse and dancer of course.

Imo dancer does not work all that well live and will definitely be dropped on the next tour.

Chalk were okay in parts, seen them a few times in the past 12 months supporting various bands and they are loud as hell each time, to the point of uncomfortable at times even with earplugs.

As someone said above the last si g was there best

For anyone who was there last night, was the crowd generally standing in their seats in the Circle?

We have tickets for the Circle tomorrow but my wife has a foot injury so not much point her going if she has to stay sitting when everyone else is standing up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 4,884 ✭✭✭Stillill42

In the Upper Circle, people were pretty sound about all that. Standing from early at the back, gradually spread forward. I was near the front, everyone up only towards the end, Danny Nedelko. But as I say, nobody I saw being an asshole about it. Being close to the front gives you the best chance of avoiding it obviously.

In the Circle last night and all standing from the very start. Saying that a couple in the row in front of me sat for most of the gig (possibly a similar situation as you) but they were on the aisle. You may be able to swap with someone in the front row (no standing there).

There was a long stretch of lesser known songs in the middle of the setlist. I'd consider myself a fan and I was a bit bored to be honest

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,537 ✭✭✭fourmations

I've been watching and listening to the setlist, i think it does get a bit samey in parts, i've earmarked a few tunes for a couple of bar/loo/smoke breaks, god bless setlist.fm!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 406 ✭✭T.V Eye

They've totally written off Ultra Mono. Only one track from it which seems to be the norm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 629 ✭✭✭swededmonkey

Caught them on Sunday night in belfast….Wow! One of the best bands on the planet at the minute. I've done a lot of great gigs this year and idles tops it

Only downside to the telegraph building is that its always freezing

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,027 ✭✭✭lbj666

Huge fan and first time seeing them proper…

I don't think anyway one woulda complained if they cut two songs outta the setlist ...or throw some of the slower broodier ones to change it up. That said the setlist was all you could want only thing I woulda loved would mtt 420 rr.

I dunno why I was so surprised but the sheer wall of sound and noise they produce is mind-blowing.

Only other critique I would have was if the crowd interactions were a bit more spontaneous.

Unreal show ...wish I coulda had the chance a few years ago to walk in then not knowing who they were.

My ears are buzzing after that

Great energy, taught Joe's voice was on the way out. Not surprising on the 3rd night of that but fair play, never stopped giving it his all.

And if you are reading this and were stood close to the ladies on the left..3 of you..shut the fuk up. It's a problem when folks going to an Idles gig can hear you w#nkers over the band. Morons
