Both good games to watch I imagine, especially Celtics and Knicks!

ya an excellent two games to start the year. 12.30am on a work night is a bit of a balls, but will try stay up for tonight's opening game, and the raising of the banner !!

Boston tied the record for the most three pointers in a game last night in a big win over the Knicks. The bench couldn't get it over the line.

Reading the Athletic and one of the comments they made was that it's confirmed that the Knicks are not contenders. This after one game.

The sooner my subscription runs out the better, lots of really bad articles on there these days, it's like a bunch of amateurs.

I'll probably end up eating my words but there are subtle differences already in the Lakers play, lots of sets for AD, more effort and movement. Poor Bronny won't see much time!

Tbf the Knicks were better pre-Towns.

Towns has played one game. That's a ridiculous comment.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,860 ✭✭✭✭pjohnson

It would be if they hadn't utterly decimated their roster to get him. They gave up all of their depth to get him and are now too hard capped to add anyone else. They even used all their cap holds to get the deal done. They have to fill the roster with 2 more players but are hamstrung to actually do it. Hukporti will eventually be promoted for the simple reason they have his rights.

They gave up all depth and any flexibility. Unless Towns puts in a Hall of Fame level MVP season they gave up way too much.

Robinson, Achiuwa, McBride, Payne and Sims isn't that bad of a backup five.

I had it the last few years but cancelled over the summer. They still have some good journalists but the replacements whenever someone leaves are at a much lower level in some areas.

Early season bet / treble was

Boston to win the Eastern Conference

    Reed Sheppard ROTY

    Luka for MVP

Sheppard has gone from 6/1 to 40/1

    😑

Some rumblings I see on twitter of OKC potentially eyeing up an Antetokounmpo trade.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,752 ✭✭✭Corvo

I think the Hartenstein and Dort contracts match up don't they? Along with a trawl of picks of course :)

Warriors gave Boston a reality check tonight. Not saying we are better mybany means but I think people are getting carried away with this Boston team, they are very very good and have depth but they are nothing special in my eyes, very solid but don’t have that x factor player. Should still win this year i think, but can easily be beaten in my opinion, as solid as they are, they don’t have that X factor player, but what do I know…

Trade I saw mooted was a 3 team trade involving Aaron Wiggins amd Jaylin Williams leaving OKC for Bucks and Nets and Ben Simmons getting picked up along the way to go toward matching Giannis salary.

Both Nets and Bucks are looking at having to rebuild and OKC can't even use all of their picks at this stage so a package for a superstar suits all.

Essentially OKC have the picks the other two want and its up to the other two to sort out the salaries to make it work.

Don’t go to that many games any more but I couldn’t miss tonight, my god, I barely cried at my moms funeral but I had serious tears in my eyes tonight when Klay came back.

It’s obviously dumb but just thinking about all these years and games I’ve been at watching him and Steph, serious good memories and also serious heartbreak but my god I wouldn’t change it for the world, things didn’t end perfectly but it was not too bad to be fair, wish nothing for the best for that man, I always thought that him and Steph would retire as Warriors but that’s not realistic, very happy that he is doing well at Dallas, was the best move for everyone no matter how much it hurt, sounds dramatic but watching him play week in, week out for all these years, meeting him, just a cool ass guy !

I have once again angered the basketball gods and LeBron has finally aged / shown absolute exhaustion. I can see a panicky trade and ending up with Brandon Ingram or Zach Lavine

I think this notion that he will play all 82 games is silly.

But they shouldn't need that. The team is 12 - 9, so they shouldn't be panicking yet. LeBron should be resting on back-to-backs.

Hawks - Bucks and Thunder - Rockets is probably not what the TV companies wanted

    Untitled Image

but was nice seeing the ending of the Rockets - Warriors game

Trade season kicking off already and players not eligible until tomorrow.

Thomas Bryant Heat to Pacers for a second rounder (both Wiseman and Jackson crocked for season so needed a center).

Dennis Schröder moving to Warriors from the Nets in return for the also crocked for the season Melton.

And interestingly Detroit have waived Paul Reed 3 weeks before they had to putting them below the minimum salary allowed so they have to either sign a player on a minimum deal or trade in the next 24 hours. Supposedly the Bulls want a first rounder for Vucevic and Detroit are apparently planning on making that deal.

Curious about people’s interactions with players

I had season tickets to the warriors for a while, I met a few, Curry is an absolute gent, Klay very nice but reserved, Iggy is cool, Nash very nice and humble

Also met Curry when he was with his kids cycling by an area I use to live, didn’t say anything cos I didn’t want to be disrespectful, it was cool cos he was literally at a garage sale with his kids when they where out cycling, so god damn cool to see him do that and cool to see no one really bothered him.

Saw Pachulia Jogging one day and shouted at him from my truck (said you the man or something dumb like that) and he was very cool, he shouted back, “I know” …lol

A friend of mine had sex with a Warriors player also, she can’t say who, pretty sure it was Poole but she had to sign a waiver or something when she went to his house…….lol. I don’t blame these guys for doing that to be fair

D'Lo back to the Nets, eh? Pity, I am in Crypto on Thursday and was hoping he'd get hot for at least one game!

Jimmy Butler storming out of yet another team, for someone who's built his brand on being the hardest worker in the room he sure does throw a lot of tantrums.

Lakers miss a huge chance to get another win and chase down Denver when Davis comes out against Philly with an abdominal injury while Maxy takes advantage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,752 ✭✭✭Corvo

No one wins against Pat Riley and Butler should know better

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,717 ✭✭✭✭LuckyLloyd

second night of a back to back on the road - I think you can bet against the Lakers in every such scenario irrespective of their opponents

AD going to miss the next few games.

The Lakers have done well to be 26 - 19 at this stage of the year, but if they have any hopes of winning a round in the playoffs they need to invest. The only deal I can see that makes any sense is a couple of 1sts for Lavine (Klutch sports client). They would need to send Rui, Gabe, Vanderbilt and Hood - Shafino to match off the salary, and maybe get a min guy back to balance out the roster spots.

Would leave them with less depth, but would become an interesting starting lineup and Lavine is still young enough to make sending an unprotected 1st+ a worthy proposition.

I think if they lost those players in a trade they would be murdered on defense and that's already happening at times.
