Big file transfer

    Hi,

just wondering if anybody can help with with transferring large files. I’ve just received my wedding video from my videographer. I was able to download it, but want to send it to my husband so we both have a copy, in case anything happens to my laptop. I can’t send him an email attachment (the file is too big at 16 GB). I’ve tried to upload it to my Google drive and my one drive but again it’s too big. I have an external hard drive with over 800 GB free and it won’t transfer to that either, I get an error message saying the file is too large.

Just wondering if anybody would have any suggestions, as I’d like to have a backup copy.

    Thanks

32GB USB flashdrive, where it might not be good for storing, should be suitable to transfer from one device to the other.

Your external drive with 800GB free perhaps is formatted to FAT32 file format, in this case max file size accepted is 4GB

In addition, files can be transferred between devices on same network - shared folder, with appropriate permissions, need to be created on one computer to become accessible from the other.

Thanks! I did try convert my external hard drive to the correct format, but it was already in NTFS, so still not sure why it won’t work.

I’ll try some of the other options here too.

Not sure if this is just the words you chose to use, but it takes to format the drive into different file system(all data would be deleted/lost)
Right click on drive in question and select "Properties" to see its current state.

By the time I tried to download it again the link had expired. I hadn’t realised there was a time limit on it.

Sorry yeah it says NTFS. I checked that initially after some googling. I might just buy a new USB, so I don’t have to worry about deleting anything by accident while I try and get it to work.

Something does not add-up about that drive.
Just a tip - do not "move" or "cut" when attempt to transfer your important data from one storage to another. Always copy/paste, then delete unwanted file if you happy with file in new location.
