Can anyone, anyone with even an iota of integrity, tell me of another conflict in the last 50 years in which this surgeons parlimentary evidence is not headline news around the world without Israel having massive influence in the media.

What about the children shot by snipers in the head and the chest ? Were they aiming at Hamas members and shot the kids “by mistake” ?

'A lobby', 'undue influence', call it whatever you want, but there is something quite insane going on : a genocide being played out nightly on our TV screens in plain sight but western media and politicians trying to assure us it is not actually happening.

The media is absolutely complicit in supporting israel. The media can set a narrative, and they do by requiring everyone to concede israel has a right to defend itself, and selectively using language - israelis are "murdered", Palestinians suffer "deaths". The media handling of the Amsterdam fighting (which was basically some israeli thugs - but I repeat myself - **** around and finding out) would be hilarious were it not so blatant in its manipulation to present the thugs as the victims of unprovoked violence.

People will come along and say "Oh, but they do report X happening". Sure, the facts get reported in the most clinical, benign neutral fashion. There is no anger though. There is no follow up. There is no holding power to account for the murders. The murder of Hind Rajab (case in point, media often reference the "killing" or her being "found dead") should be the front page news every day until israel hands over her murderers for trial. The media make Greta Thungberg a name we all know, why not Hind Rajab?

That's the US influence. There was a time when they afforded Apartheid South Africa the same cover.

Without a doubt RPG's did some of the damage but the 30mm gatling guns and Hellfire missiles from the Apaches along with the tank rounds did the lions share, especially along the border as they shot anything that moved. It shouldn't be a surprise really after what we've witnessed over the last year as the IDF is one of the most indisciplined militaries on the planet and sure why would you bother to follow any rules of engagement when you can literally do whatever you want to the subhumans in Gaza.

Your actually trying to justify quadcopter drones hovering over wounded kids and shooting them????? Really, is that what your doing?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,000 ✭✭✭✭Sand

When you look at the photos of the car graveyards from Oct 7th, the scale of the damage to the vehicles bring to mind the so-called "Highway of Death" from Gulf War 1 where US aviation slaughtered fleeing Iraqi troops in vehicles.

I wonder if Twitter and social media was around then would every US politician be releasing a weekly statement proclaiming their devotion to South Africa. Mad that they're so paranoid about foreign interference in elections yet they have a country in the middle east openly boasting about electing 99% of your politicians

Probably. Nelson Mandela was only removed from the "no fly" list in 2008 for instance.

Latest reports suggest that Hezbollah has lost 80% of it's rockets and key commanders. Not sure if that figure includes the thousands that they've fired into Israel since October 7th. More strikes today in Beirut's suburbs. Warnings were issued in advance as usual. Fingers crossed Israel gets the remaining 20% quickly and this war can end soon. Great to see that innocent people like that elderly gentleman are heeding the warnings.

Am Yisrael Chai - Bring them home.

I'm sure that old man is thinking "what a wonderful thing it is to receive a minutes warning that my family home is going to be destroyed and praise god that the zionists decided to settle the country to the south, they have brought nothing but peace and prosperity to the region"

Here's a report on a precision airstrike yesterday that took out another 15 medics taking the total well over 100

Taking out buildings like that in a densely populated city is simply terrorism

A couple of days ago I think Sky News ran with a headline along the lines of "Pictured: Israeli teenagers killed by Hezbollah"

The 3 "teenagers" in questions were IDF soldiers who had been killed fighting in their invasion of Lebanon.

Germany too : their media is full of pro-genocide apologists.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 403 ✭✭freebritney

"A stray bullet found its way into the van and killed a 3 or 4 year old young lady"

    Another from Sky News

For the obvious historical reasons the establishment there won't criticise Israel, or at least would be extremely reluctant to do so.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 561 ✭✭✭CliffHangeroner

Firmly believe now that Israel is conducting a landgrab of possibly all of Gaza for themselves. Is it part of a plan that has been years in the making and how did the October 7th attacks happen so easily even though Israel had been warned they where imminent?

Perhaps you'd comment on the 192 innocent Lebanese emergency and health workers that got no warning and were murdered? Or the 28 people killed on Tuesday in Israeli air strikes on two houses in central Lebanon where displaced families were reportedly living?

Didn't work out "great" for them.

Israel is a terrorist genocidal State - those that support them are abhorrent.

It is bitter irony that the "never again" guilt leads them into complicity with a genocide in 2024. I am fairly sure I recall Scholz claiming the entire purpose of Germany is to support the existence of israel, a genocidal regime installed on top of the Palestinians. So if Palestine was to exist as a free country, Germany and all its people, culture and history would be surplus to requirements.

Its so bizarre, but its the ideology.

This is a conflict between two undisciplined militaries who a good chunk of their combatants would love nothing more then to wipe the other side out. They've been at it for a thousand years and it's not stopping anytime soon.

If ever want a peaceful situation like in the North countries like the US and Iran need to stop taking sides.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,285 ✭✭✭RoyalCelt

But how will they get rid of the hundreds of thousands of Gazans still in the southern half? Personally I believe they'll take the top half of Gaza and leave the EU to rebuild the southern half while Iran rebuild HAMAS. In 40 or 50 years we'll probably have a repeat of Oct 7 and Israel will finish off the southern half. Maybe you're right though, maybe with trump they'll go for it all now.

I see you're quoting Israel Katz. Below are some of his other quotes.

His threats to Ireland, Spain and Norway are particularly noteworthy. As is his clear determination to "bring the hostages home". Israel abandoned the hostages months ago.

And its very notable that two days after saying Hezbollah were defeated, he then says they will continue hitting them with full force. I'd say in the intervening two days, someone gave him the "Lebanese ethnic cleansing memo" and it was back to the business of killing innocent civilians.

    Presumably you're a fan?

"We have to draw a line. We will not tolerate murdering children and burning families. The line has been crossed. We will fight the terrorist organization Hamas and destroy it. All the civilian population in Gaza is ordered to leave immediately. We will win. They will not receive a drop of water or a single battery until they leave the world."

"Humanitarian aid to Gaza? No electrical switch will be turned on, no water hydrant will be opened and no fuel truck will enter until the Israeli abductees are returned home."

"I ordered to immediately cut off the water supply from Israel to Gaza. Electricity and fuel were cut off yesterday. What was will not be."

"I have instructed the immediate recall of Israel’s ambassadors to Ireland and Norway for consultations in light of these countries' decisions to recognize a Palestinian state. I’m sending a clear and unequivocal message to Ireland and Norway: Israel will not remain silent in the face of those undermining its sovereignty and endangering its security. <snip> Israel will not remain silent - there will be further severe consequences. If Spain follows through on its intention to recognize a Palestinian state, a similar step will be taken against it. The Irish-Norwegian folly does not deter us; we are determined to achieve our goals: restoring security to our citizens, dismantling Hamas, and bringing the hostages home. There are no more just causes than these."

"A member of the Israeli Knesset has warned Palestinians of another “Nakba” if they fly their national flag. Gloating at the prospect of another round of ethnic cleansing, Likud lawmaker Israel Katz put up a video of himself on Twitter speaking at parliament, issuing a stark warning to Israel’s Palestinian citizens."

"JERUSALEM, Nov 10 (Reuters) - Israel Defence Minister Israel Katz said on Sunday that his country has defeated Hezbollah and that eliminating its leader Hassan Nasrallah was the crowning achievement."

"DUBAI, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Israel's Defense Minister, Israel Katz, said on X on Tuesday that during a meeting with military officials, he reiterated that Israel will continue hitting Hezbollah with full force and that there will be no ceasefire."

They haven't "been at it for a thousand years". israel didnt exist until the late 1940s. The throwing your hands up, boys will be boys narrative is a pro-israeli narrative. It pretends its some contest between equals rather than a brutal genocide by israel against the Palestinians.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,790 ✭✭✭dmcdona

I doubt Israel will get rid of the Sothern half of Gaza in the same way as the Northern half of Gaza.

They've already commenced their operation to starve the entire population of Gaza. Those that don't starve will undoubtedly succumb to disease. It'll certainly save the Israelis a whole bunch or ordnance.

    BBC

Israel has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity by deliberately causing the mass displacement of Palestinians in Gaza, a report by Human Rights Watch (HRW) says.

About 1.9 million people - 90% of Gaza’s population - have fled their homes over the past year, and 79% of the territory is under Israeli-issued evacuation orders, according to the UN.

HRW’s report says this amounts to “forcible transfer” and that “evidence shows it has been systematic and part of a state policy”. It also says Israeli actions appear to “meet the definition of ethnic cleansing”.

The UN has said 75,000 people remain under siege with dwindling supplies of water and food in the towns of Jabalia, Beit Lahia and Beit Hanoun, where the Israeli military says it is preventing a Hamas resurgence.

If anyone doubts a clear policy by Israel of starving the Palestinians to death, less than 10% of pre-war supplies are being let through.

    BBC

In his letter on 13 October, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Israel needed to allow a minimum of 350 lorries a day into Gaza, every day, by 12 November.

But when asked if Israel had done enough since then to meet America’s demands, Louise Wateridge, Senior Emergency Coordinator there for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees (Unrwa), bluntly said “No”.

“There is not enough aid here. There are not enough supplies,” she told the BBC from Unrwa's base in central Gaza.

“People are starving in some areas. People are very hungry. They are fighting over bags of flour. There are just not enough supplies.”

This is a war between two archaic and outdated ideologies. Judaism which has existed for 4,000 years and Islam which is around 1,400. One side wants a Jewish state the other a Muslim state.

I hope yiuee wrong and I hope they don't manage to starve them out. Unfortunately the north is almost all but abandoned and I can see the IDF bulldozing it and rebuilding it for themselves.
