Mdf to block up doorway

    so iv a doorway I need blocking up I was thinking of use moisture resistant mdf mainly because I wouldn’t have to plaster compared to plasterboard what do people think just a concern with the joints and blending in any suggestions.

    You will always have the joints visible then.

    Far better to use plasterboard, and just fill the joints and sand to finish for an invisible job.

    so are you saying just fill joints no need for plaster on plasterboard

    Yep. Install board as near as possible flush with surrounding finish and just fill screw holes and joints. The joint compound sands very well and will leave a perfect finish. The plasterboard itself will paint over just same as surrounding wall.

    Use Scrim or joint tape too to stop the finish cracking over time.

    You will probably need to do the joints 3 times to get the right build up and spread the joint over suitable width but it's a diy job for sure.

    Have both sides of the wall to be done?

    yeah 2 sides to be done but I’m not sure if I’m doing those wall slats on one side if I do the slats will cover the doorway
