Have the herdwatch app a few years but don't think I'm getting as much out of it as I could be. Just thought I'd create a thread where maybe we could all add tips or interesting things you use it for.

Am finding the option to email weight lists to myself handy

I actually gave it up 2 years ago. It was just another expense. Someone here shared the link got flockit and I use that. Although I don’t think it’s been updated in a while.
have an offer of 50% off from here watch for Black Friday. But I’d end up paying one for sheep and one for cattle so don’t think I’ll bother

I gave it up this year too after a couple of years. A friend told him his way of recording info in real time is to take pics and notes on WhatsApp and he sends it too himself. There is a time and date record that way and easy write it up in the book then.
Herdwatch is good but as said above, it’s another expense which ain’t cheap if you include cattle, sheep and the pasture app

Herd App started charging for every animal you have on it. Same price for cows and calves.
Calculated on the average number of each type of animal that you have for the year. It’s pure robbery if you rear a good share of calves.

I had my bord bia on Friday and the herd watch saved me about 6 hours getting ready for it. Just ran the reports and put them in front of the inspector. I think it's worth the money.

My tip is to record straight away. My father when he was alive would be complaining of the time wasted reading tags when dosing but it saves 3 nights of doing records before the audit.

I just hand the phone over to the auditor. If you put the Cattle in groups on herdwatch it can save time entering stuff.

I like herdwatch, I never used any other management. I won't bother changing. I probably don't use it to its full potential.

Call them every year when renewing and negotiate the price.

It's nearly gone too expensive now to use and a lot of features locked unless you pay up.

Is that the full package with herdwatch?

I paid €160 after negotiating, I have just over 100 animals.

They keep upping the price, I'd say call them and see if they'll drop it a bit.
