We badly need a midfielder to partner c Kenny could Mac Donald or Hammond do a job there

Wouldn't rule Luke Connellan out either, physical, quick, unreal engine and can take a score, well worth a shot and only 21 so with a bit of work could nail down a place.

Lyng has 5 U20’s in training will this cause problems again this year for Mark Dowling?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 412 ✭✭Krazy gang

He's come on in leaps and bounds alright but still inter County is different level altogether to club. No guarantee he'd be a whole lot better than Carey or deegan for example. Hopefully few thomastown lads get a run of matches in the league.

Can anyone see us winning a senior all Ireland in the next 10 years ? I certainly can't see that prospect

I don't think that's a problem for the U20s it's Mark Dowling is the problem

    Who are the 5

I just heard of Lyng Neary Murphy

No I can't with current set up of management and coaching

We will definitely win at least one. We have an easy draw every year. Leinster is so bad at the moment we are guaranteed a quarter final at worst if not a semi final. With Limerick going to come back to the pack, expect more all Ireland's to be shared out.

Yeah i agree, Kilkenny more or less guaranteed a semi final spot. Galway, Wexford, Antrim and Dublin are very poor now

I could see this being lyngs last year even if he wins the all Ireland with kk

I don’t think any inter county team will have a manager longer that 5 years in the future the demands are to high

We will win more all Irelands in the next 10 years but lyng will be well gone

Can't speak to the next ten years but in the next couple of years I don't see us having the beating of two top Munster teams at the business end of the season.

Think you've been going a bit mad there lately. Mark Dowling one of a select number in this County to manage his own club to a senior title. Maybe you have achieved something similar or better?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 269 ✭✭KK36

Mark Dowling is an excellent man over a team. Looking back at how results went last year, he got rode out of an all ireland by our inept county board officers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,280 ✭✭✭Marrooned

that’s old age for you mixed up between the two age groups.

    spot on KK 36

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,603 ✭✭✭Village87

Some good u21 matches on this weekend. GBC v Village especially catching the eye. These are also games where county management need to be all over. Ryan Corcoran looked very good last week v Thomastown. The search for new players standing out should continue at this grade. God knows we need them

you may come forward and tell us all your club or would that kill things for you?

Mark Dowling had an excellent record with the Boro for the four or five years he was there winning a senior county final and three or four senior league finals. When “hurlingtothebone” tells us his club then we can start comparing. Himself and “village 87”seem to have a personal vendetta against Mark. I already called out “ village 87 ‘s” managerial record which wasn’t wonderful. Mark was certainly shafted this year, his first year wasn’t good and he should have done better.last year as stated earlier had a lot of things going against him like the county board **** ups the Killian Doyle **** up, the venue which if it wasn’t in Nowlan park was supposed to be a neutral venue, We went to Tullamore with at least a12,000 Offaly supporters against no more than300 KK supporters of which I was one were the two named above in attendance? Man of the match that night was the Offaly goalie, we lost by a point to the eventual all Ireland champions having missed a close in free and a penalty. I would find that a tad unlucky, would you not?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 412 ✭✭Krazy gang

I agree they were definitely unlucky in the offally game. Missed penalty, hit the crossbar plus missing Doyle. Although that was down more to incompetence than luck. Leinster next year will be tough too. Offaly will have the team who were beaten in a minor all ireland by tipp, this kk team were beat at minor by laois and dublin possibly. Saying that they should have a strong squad

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 412 ✭✭Krazy gang

In fairness you went in fairly hard on the minor and senior management also

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,280 ✭✭✭Marrooned

yes I did, we will start with the minor management first, you are just after mentioning the minor team beaten by Laois for only the second time previously in a Leinster final. This was managed by Niall Bergin.this year he completed his three year term, the other two managers have a year left.the all Ireland minor final played in Nowlan park were bet by the auld enemy who had two men sent off early in the game, the management had 3 opportunities to talk with the players but they still lost in what I regard as the worst day ever in KK hurling and so do the KK general public.Just as a matter of record I would of got rid of all three managers. I have previously stated all these facts but you don’t seem to have read it properly?

I don't have a personal vendetta against Mark Dowling just don't think he was a good u20 manager either year he achieved nothing with a good group of players for two years on the trot

Just a suggestion for you if he's so wonderful why don't you put him forward for Boro job if a vacancy arises

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92 ✭✭Hurlingtothebone

Ah yeah but he's not a boro man

Alright to cut the back off him because he's from o loughlins

At least the minor team got to an all ireland

U20 team couldn't even get to a leinster final under Mark Dowling

But yeah I forgot Offaly won the all ireland and they beat us so that's a success apparently

Don’t you know you’re not taken seriously here unless you are heavily involved in your own club and you have ticket stubs to prove you were at every Kilkenny match. You can’t ‘just be a supporter with an interest and an opinion’. Even though the self elected chief is not involved in his own club for some reason.

Nine years since our last All Ireland win in 2015. We lost '16 to Tipp and after Galway winning in "17 a Limerick team that rivals our greatest ever team totally dominated the next seven years and could easily have done 7 in a row. We are falling short in my opinion because the players have not been there of the same ability as those that gave us 11 titles in 16 years and they needed to be to beat Limerick. I don't expect that to change in the short term because we haven't unearthed the next generation of TJ, Tommy ,Larks, Richie etc etc yet.
