Anti-Semtism has been on the up for years

hatred of isreal has been on the up for the last 13 months

    anyone any idea why ?

anyway, hopefully they are left into no more European competitions, in anything.

So you do not believe the Dutch police or the Dutch authorities so. No matter the evidence, you will simply not believe it.

That is a dangerous thought process, that will lead you down to darkness and loopy ideas.

But you will believe anything you read on Twitter that confirms your previously held thoughts on the matter.

That's terrible. If only they could have come up with some reasonable civilised chants about Israeli kids that were killed instead.

Or am I getting confused here. Can you give us some guidelines as to which kids it's ok to gloat over being killed? Is it something like it being only ok to gloat once there is a threshold of 10k reached? It's difficult to keep up with what is ok and what isn't. It's almost as if it changes constantly to suit your own "team".

No need to rethink my post at all. The videos are available for all t see the disgusting, racist behaviour of the Israeli people in Amsterdam. Also, I'm certainly not going to pay any heed to a supporter of genocide so what Ursula has to say is irrelevant and, very likely, incorrect.

There's actual video evidence of them doing it.

But hey, hero Geert's tweets implied it wasn't true and that suits so you run with it.

If the claim is that racism was on display in Amsterdam last night, then who is to say that the Maccabi supporters weren't also being racist towards Muslims? It takes two to tango.

Right, so Jews worldwide are fair game for slaps because of Gaza.

A terrible and dangerous moral point of view.

Palestine "issues"? You mean mass expulsion, murder and theft of land?

Israel commits these crimes and then wonders why there is an ever increasing amount of anger.

I'll revert back to the Dutch authority's view on the matter and not the unhinged rants of some on this thread, thank you very much.

As you are deliberately being obtuse, I will explain it to you. Hooligan's running amok in the Netherlands got a few slaps for being obnoxious pricks.

But in relation to your attempted strawman, can you tell us again what specific times collective punishment will be acceptable, and what times it won be acceptable, over the next few weeks? Do you have a schedule, or do you just flip flip depending on the victims?

What about their king and the dutch police? They all agree with VDL and the Dutch PM. Stop trying to deflect. This is about a group of Israeli football fans who went to a game in a European city last night and they were attacked because they were Jewish or Israeli.

Am Yisrael Chai - Bring them home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,313 ✭✭✭✭markodaly

As I said, I would condemn those chants.

But equally one should condemn the targeted assaults against Israelis and Jews.

Just because you act the magot, does not give carte blanche to the locals to targetting everyone of the same race and religion.

It should not be that hard

If you can point out the post where I said that it was 'Ok' to gloat over dead kids you may have a point.

    But I did not.

So you are making up **** again, to have some unhinged rant.

    I don't condone violence.

I do, however, have a question.

If Israeli fans were asked where they were from, rather than if they were Jewish, is that still defined as antisemitism?

A quick search reveals there is a community of 15,000 Jews in Amsterdam.

These jews were not attacked, apparently. So, how does attacking only the Isrealis constitute antisemitism?

As I said, I don't condone violence. Nor do I condone mass punishment, where that is in Amsterdam, or in Gaza....

On the other hand, if some of the Israeli fans were being thugs, and THOSE fans ended up getting a few slaps, then I have absolutely no sympathy for them whatsoever.

Given that the authorities have now warned people not to wear or display Jewish symbols in Amsterdam, you can correctly make the link.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,313 ✭✭✭✭markodaly

It is ironic you call me obtuse when you are in denial of reality, and even when I share links with you about what the Dutch authorities say about the matter you want to create your own little reality as the actual facts don't conform to your worldview.

It's like reality offends you and you want to create your own make-believe world.

Here is the Amsterdam Mayor describing the events.
    Reality eh?

A truly vile, racist, hatefilled club. The soonerMaccabi Tel Avi and their racists fans are kicked out of European football, the better. They have a history of violence and racist behaviour. It's no surprise they were st the exact same behaviour in Amsterdam.

Videos posted to social media appear to show Maccabi Tel Aviv fans chanting racist slogans about Arabs and Palestine, as well as climbing on a building to tear down a Palestinian flag on display.

Social media users said the videos were from before the attacks on Israelis. Footage from the stadium also appeared to show Maccabi fans jeering and whistling during a minute's silence for those killed in floods in Valencia.

The BBC is working to verify the videos. Some Maccabi Tel Aviv fans have previously been involved in racist incidents in Israel, including cursing at the team’s Palestinian and Arab players and reportedly applying pressure on the team to oust them.

Fans of the team have also previously attacked protesters demonstrating against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israeli football fans go on the rampage targeting Palestinians / people who support Palestinians in Amsterdam and get a response and cry is antisemitism…..

It should never have even come to that as Israeli football teams should have been banned from football competitions ages ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,769 ✭✭✭Homelander

So because some supporters chanted certain things, it's OK that Jewish supporters were, in general, attacked and targeted on the streets?

Because it seems to me that's what happened, which is completely different to "some people kicked off and those exact specific people reaped what they sowed", hence the Dutch authorities view on it.

The chanting is inexcusable. The blanket targeting of Jewish supporters afterwards is inexcusable.

    Again…

The Dutch Authorities agree with that cry of anti-semitism.

There seems to be a cohort of people who are in denial of reality here. I guess the Nazis weren't Anti-Semitic either..

Sky news trying to link it to how Jews where treated in Europe in 1939 tells us all we need to know about the state of the media in 2024.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,353 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

This is why I would be very reluctant to class this as a "racist" incident. There have been innumerable violent clashes between football supporters from different countries for many decades, sometimes even resulting in fatalities. It's not helpful at all to describe this latest one as "racism" or a "pogrom".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,978 ✭✭✭✭A Dub in Glasgo

    Confetti… anti-semitism…

The Israeli football fans went to a European capital city and attacked people for supporting Palestinians and yet it is all about how some of them got a kicking in response.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 547 ✭✭✭harryharry25

Maccabi fans were attacked after the game for their actions before and during the game

I doubt every single Maccabi fans are Jewish or maybe they are

Lesson to be learned don't go to another city causing trouble and not expect a response from the locals

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,353 ✭✭✭✭Strazdas

UEFA has a problem on its hands. Huge pro-Palestine banners were displayed at several European games this week (at Paris Saint Germain, Galatasaray and Celtic for example). It's obvious that UEFA itself is severely compromised and in hock to Netanyahu and the IDF, but the ordinary football fans are not on board with any of it.

I’d say a few pants were filled when the israelis realised that the Dutch could hit back.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,978 ✭✭✭✭A Dub in Glasgo

They quickly realised they were not attacking women and children and now the media are gaslighting everyone… which is exactly the zionist playbook

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,236 ✭✭✭Garzorico

Political correctness gone mad. Any clubs involved in a war should be banned, simple as that. But no, due to political correctness everyone else is forced to deal with the fallout (in a sporting sense).

UEFA & FIFA dealt very decisively with Russia and Russian clubs. It is not really political correctness that Israel is still allowed to participate in football competitions
