Ballpark price for an above garage extension

I’m looking at a house in South Dublin. it’s an 1960s 3 bed. I’d need to build a full length extension over the garage the length of the house to fit an extra bedroom , study and en-suite. Will the foundations and current structure support a floor above it? Thats what you need to figure our first. Any other houses on the street have it done?

quite a few houses on the road have done it. It’s not quite clear if they had to knock the garage and build from ground up.
Is knocking on the door the only option
