Thanks for that. I had just searched by model number and hadn't seen either of them. I was going by a lower rrp as I'd bought it in dollars. I'll wear it a bit before moving it on anyway, maybe it'll grow on me, but ballpark 7k isn't as bad as I was fearing

Agree with @Cyrus, very few Rolex left that are worth retail or more now. But by all means stick it up on adverts for €7900 and just see what offers you get

Maybe this helps. My first Rolex was also a black Explorer and I got bored with it very quickly too 😀

Ye, I'm not sure what I had expected. Just a little underwhelmed.

I came from a blue Seamaster Bond and that watch is simply more interesting. That said, the build quality of the Rolex like the case / bracelet far exceeds that of Omega imho

Had a similar experience myself with a blue dial OP41 .Was lucky enough to move it on for what I paid but those two watches are boring .

Rolex sold too. See my sig for what I have left. Big sales effort this week to thin out the collection, would be happy to just be left with one Seiko or Breitling or something like that for the moment

White milgauss is my long standing bet for the one that will be collectable in some years. Actually a very nice wearable watch, in a good size.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,931 ✭✭✭hitemfrank

I wish I had the spare money for the white Milguass. I would then have to get the z blue version to complete the trifecta, so maybe it's best I don't have the spare money

You better start saving hard. There is a black one as well (without the GV) 😀

I had GV (twice) and the black and now the white. Always fancied the Z-blue. That bastard @Fitz II got one but sold it on before he gave me an opportunity to buy it. It has gone up in value by thousands since where most Rolex went down during that period! Oh wait there is one in NL, full set, fixed asking price of €9.4k, seems a bargain

The black one is where it's at for me. The GV green dial one looks great but is not particularly legible. The one below is the best of the lot. There's a full-set of the black version for €7600 on C24 if you had the europes for it.

I sold a black one recently. I feel it is the least desirable in the range and they are the cheapest on C24. To me the Z-blue is the prettiest, but it is a funny colour of blue and all the people I personally know who have owned one (including a few regulars on this forum) sold them on quickly

Still they are all classy watches. Classic Rolex style. Wear big because they are all dial and small bezel, so at 40mm still ok even for big wrists. Funky - not as stale and boring as a datejust or oyster perpetual. Discontinued which makes them increasingly rare, and collectable. And who needs a seconds hand when the watch is likely out by the guts of a minute anyway? 😁

The only saving I'm doing these days is for the child that's on the way. I'm very likely out of buying watches for a considerable time going forward 😂

Just came across this by accident. I think that might be in the vault in Belfast (where P&P keep their watches)

Massive congratulations! Enjoy every moment of it and as Dinorebel says, Kids are an even pricier hobby than watches 😉😁

Ah it's not too bad. To raise a child in Ireland costs just €250k. Each.

I'm at the early stages, just 13 weeks old, but with having twins I'd imagine my "wedding watch" will be the last for a long long time

Congratulations to you and the Mrs too. Can only imagine the extra effort involved with twins. Despite my sperm donor & my 1st wife's dad both being ½ of twins, we swerved that surprise.

My late brother gifted me a beautiful Ferrari Enzo model 21yrs ago, with a note saying "Congrats on Kate's pregnancy, enjoy the model it's as close as you'll ever get to the real thing now" 😂

He was a funny fecker, the car sits in pride of place in my ManCave and the story will be wheeled out come Josh's 21st in March.

Bit of a random one, looking for a very dark brown leather keeper for a 16mm buckle end strap.
If anyone has something sitting in the watch box, I’d greatly appreciate the keeper for the price of a pint or donation to a charity of your choosing.

    Hi all

So as some may know am recovering from knee surgery. SWMBO was been fantastic the last 10 weeks driving me everywhere and putting up with an old moany git around the house.

was going to get her something special for Christmas ( Cartier methinks) .. so, to do that am going to offload my Seiko SpeedTimer Pogue

Worn in rotation , it will come with the SS bracelet and a leather strap in the pics

    Cheapest on C24 is €625

I’ll do mine for €600 inc shipping ( Ireland)

    Any questions, fire away

No, surgery to repair a complete Achilles rupture - will be a year before I'm back to pre-injury condition (which wasn't all that fit). I'm just looking forward to being able to drive myself around again though!

Had to have an op on my ankle in Feb this year (debridement of Achilles tendon) and am still not quite back to normal (un)fitness.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,704 ✭✭✭Deep Thought

The foam roller is your friend, or torturer in my case. Try to free up the quads too.

I'd have had your pogue timer big style but with the ridiculous alignment of about six bills and kids Xmas presents...
