    That ref has issues

dunno who touched that ball in the way into touch but it was a very poor decision given that he was literally in the corner and the ball was defo going out. Cost them they try.

thats being very nice, letting the AB's do what they want at ruck time

Kilgallen. Absolutely dreadful decision, no idea what he was thinking.

Awful kick too. Suspect he didn't realise how close the ball was to going dead

Lads Burns isn't worth a fiddlers can't kick or tackle

    What’s the score?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 31,514 Mod ✭✭✭✭Podge_irl

    5-14

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators, Paid Member Posts: 31,514 Mod ✭✭✭✭Podge_irl

    12-14!

PT and YC on the half from a collapsed maul. Munster will most definitely take that.

Scannell kicking to the corner now, penalty try. Munster have some very nice passing play and forwards are carrying well but they’re being let down by the half backs. 9 is at the bottom of too many rucks and I’d say we could find a better ten in this chat than Munster have with Burns.

Just stuck it on-Sky Sport Live 4 NZ for anyone with IPTV. Gwan Munster, great time to score!

    Entertaining game so far

Coughlan and the back three playing very well. Back row got stuck in more towards the end of the half. Scrum is still an issue. Breakdown is an absolute mess. It's like something from the 90's at times. Burns isn't within an arse's roar of being a fly half.

Munster pretty unlucky a knock-on wasn't called from their kick off that ultimately ended in the NZ try, but I really don't think that Munster try should have counted so win some lose some.

The contrast between this performance and their first 6 league games is jarring.

2 easy trys near the end gives the score a real sheen it doesn't deserve.

    Thought Munster were great tonight.

What happened POM was it injured or to stop him killing the ref ?

    Very entertaining game that.

Munster battled hard and played well but NZ were a class above, they scored some very nice tries.

    Great game, great atmosphere overall

Coughlan did great, lovely passer, nice showing by Evan

    2 tries killed us

We had all the possession first 20 with no real return

    Time for pints

How about O Mahony for player/manager!!!

The guy oozes Munster, I think it's a hell of an idea!!

Great game, again the rub of the green generally went the ABs way. Billy Burns really needs to improve if he's hoping to be out second choice outhalf.

If we can put in a performance like that throughout the season it will win us most games.

The ABs are a joy to watch with ball in hand.

Absolutely brilliant atmosphere pity Actress Munster let so many fans down with streaming issues.

Agree on the atmosphere...long time since it was like that.

Can't fathom why Burns wasn't replaced in first half

From 30 mins on he couldn't kick coz of an injury & Scannell had to take over.

Some sore bodies after that, Shay M was in front of me b4 being subbed & he was in bits.... leaning on the corner flag

the AB not only tackle you but really get power into the tackle when they do

Tha atmoshpere seemed fairly flat on TV, perhaps it was filtered out.

It is shameful the match wasnt on terrestrial tv.

Watched the majority of the match on the phone, atmosphere sounded like it was hopping.

Munster played really well for the most part. As stated above, it they played most matches with that intensity and focus we'd be winning most. Some players similar - I thought fineen had a very strong game, making yards, some dominant tackles (some mistakes) - he'd be in far more match squads if he was consistent in this.

Fantastic atmosphere, pity we couldn't get ahead in the latter end when it was ebb and flow, good performance though.

Convert our tries or maybe a drop goal and we could have won that. Or Kilgallen not touch that ball and it's ours on halfway instead of a try for them. Such small margins at times in games.

Aherne, Coombes, Hodnett, Archer, Shay McCarthy all put in huge shifts. The young props that came on did well, one of them was bowling fellas over in the loose the couple of times he got on the ball.

I feel sorry for Billy Burns, I do think he's a better player than he has shown for us so far but it hasn't been a great start for him and I'd be letting Tony Butler on the bench for a while.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 26,504 ✭✭✭✭phog

Agree with all of this, I was screaming at Kilgallen to keep it in, then at the last second to let it off, unfortunately, he must have touched it and those small margins is what the ABs thrive on.

On Billy Burns, I'm one of those that could see merit in Munster signing him but he's in danger now of falling to third spot.

Overall, despite the final scoreline this was a good performance by the players.

I’d be slow to criticise Burns, think he possibly rushed back from injury, and clearly wasn’t right halfway into the first half but battled on to the break.

It’s a typical finish where the attacking team go all out attack and leave gaps behind, if Munster had managed to get a score and got in front they may well have held on.

Was delighted by the young guys, reminiscent of the performance against Wasps a couple of seasons ago.

Green shoots are there, just need to be positive and give them opportunities where possible.

Great to see PFP back at scrum-half also, if he can get a run of games he has potential to excel.

Rory Scannell had a few nice plays also, his pace appears to have gone somewhat, but he’s seriously bulked up, and if he can get through a tackle with his hands free he looks like he could create some line-breaks.
