Picked one up on Cex for €28 plus delivery, I'll see how it goes when it arrives, should be fun🫣

Presumably it's arrived by now. So, is it up to scratch?

And was the setup straightforward? Or were there any compatibility issues?

It arrived today. I set it up as router only plugged the cable into LAN port 1 and after about a minute it connected and is working perfectly, no need to do anything else as the modem work is already done at the ONT.

Getting much better range and speeds on the Huawei compared to the fritzbox. Pity about the nas not working but the trade off for a better connection means I am happy

Edit. Less than 24 hours in wi fi doesn't now work anymore. I can only get a connection wired. It must be faulty. Ringing pure tomorrow. Damn.

It wasn't turned off by any chance? The WPS switch also controls the WiFi. I went back to the Huawei router, like yourself I found it better than the fritzbox.

Hey Folks - I just got Fibre installed today and im with Pure. Ran a couple of speed tests and overall speeds are good but im disappointed in the ping - its hitting ~20ms when I was expecting it to be under 10ms.

Anyone any idea what the issue could be? Router? Line issue? Its the Huawei router and im on the 1Gb package. Wired tests.

Which wholesale network. What address are you pinging? I'm on the Open eir 500MB and ping to google.ie is 10 ms not using their hardware.

With Pure myself on the Open eir network and pings to google.ie are hitting 6-9ms wired. Not using the Huawei router for the connection though. Just using it as a dumb AP further along the chain.

Its with OpenEir. I was just testing it on Speedtest using their various servers and the google speed test.

I might try using my own Archer Router although its nothing special itself, I think its Archer A7. Fibre came much quicker than I thought (NBI still has us down as 2026)

Try pinging a website or 8.8.8.8 yourself from a command line. Speedtest.net’s ping score isn’t always accurate.

Unfortunately same results - its a consistent in ~17-22ms ping every time. Considering I was getting 40ms with Starlink, the drop is nice but honestly still frustrating me that im not <10ms

I tried using my own router last night but was getting an orange light when plugging it in. Its been an absolute age since I did any router setting changes.

Can anyone point me in the right direction of what I need to do to use my own router?

When I trialled my fritzbox I just selected router from the drop-down menu, after about 25 seconds it was connected I didn't touch anything else. My ping is 9m/s wireless on my phone I'm using the pure router I'm on the 500 plan. Try giving them a ring and see what they say, personally I think 1 gig is overkill for an ordinary house.

DHCP v4 for connection type and VLAN 10 are the only settings needed for Pure

I recently joined Pure and was given this router. When I try to login to the router with the details on the sticker underneath it says the user/password is invalid. Any advice here? It's a new router and I haven't changed any details on it.

Try a pin reset, my router looked like it had been used before as there was a non existent extra ap in one of the menus.

Will I lose all my connection settings when I do that? I thought thst would be a factory reset?

Maybe you would, probably best to leave it until Monday and give them a ring, their CS is very good according to all accounts.

Just switched mother's house to Pure Telecom and all very good. Is there anyway to set bandwith limits on the router? (Huawei LG8245X6-10). Brother always goes home and takes over living room streaming his bullshit all day long and doesn't pay a cent into the household. I want to throttle his use so he goes away.

I couldn't see anything in the settings, maybe if he was wireless only you could put a different password on the 5g network restricting him to the slower 2.4 network.

    Ah, that's a great idea. Can't believe I didn't think of this!

Yes, he comes along with his dodgy firestick and settles in for 5-6 days over christmas, doesn't get off the couch for that period. Should really lock the slob out of the internet altogether…

There's always one isn't there? Usually mammy and daddy won't have a bad word said about him. With both my parents gone to their eternal reward I don't miss that ...

Sorry for resurrecting this thread. Earlier in week, switched to pure and got a Huawei modem. It may be coincidence, but when watching Netflix ,every night it buffers a few times eg when try to rewind ( we can usually get around by clicking back on the app on smart TV). Never happened with previous provider so wondering if it's unstable connection on the router? We wfh and Internet has been fine for that. Haven't used any other streaming app to see if also happens there. We plug out the router every night ( I'm paranoid about fires), is that a good or bad thing to do?

Try watching it using your hotspot from your phone and see if the issue persists. As for unplugging, i think that’s a bit ott. Routers also usually do updates during the night so you may be missing some but can probably get the update by logging into the router and checking for updates if it’s not already set to automatic.
