I have as much credibility as two respected news agencies.

    Take it up with them.

Ah here, I've been courteous to you all along.

If you're going to descend into "you're lying" and "dishonest" retorts, I've really nothing more to to say to you that would remain courteous. And I won't debase myself.

    So I'll leave it there.

It's fun watching you squirm. What was all the waffle about me and Israeli news sources? Another theory climbdown?

I got the actual number of wounded from the Israeli embassy in Washington. Reported on 10th Oct. Do you dispute it?

Pathetic. You made a mistake. Own it.

Do you dispute the update from the Israeli embassy in Washington on Oct 10th? Yes/No. Try not to squirm. Tatters.

So, tonight I posted that Hamas should surrender, and bring the war, and the the suffering of the people of Gaza to an end.

On this thread, where no one is an anti-semite, and no one supports Hamas, not a single person agreed with me. Between 10 and 15 posters all jumped in to defend Hamas right to continue its war on the people of Gaza.

One poster even posted his admiration for Yahya Sinwar.

Another lamented that the poor people of Gaza have nothing else.

    Bizzare.

Like i said previously, no one on here really cares a toss about the innocents in Gaza, the only real concern is the defeat of Israel.

The ongoing war is just an excuse for antisemites to log on, shout 'Genocide' for a few hours, and fulminate about how the Jews rule the world.

    Strange world.

    I already have.

If your source is correct, i have no problem with that.

Just stop suggesting i made something up. I did a search and found two reputable sources. There's only so much fact checking someone can do. I'm happy to be corrected on such matters.

Bad night for Sheepy so he brings out all the labels. Childlike.

Still waiting for an answer re Israeli embassy in Washington DC…

    Credibility…tatters.

You did the search after you claimed 10,000 for Oct 7th and then avoided the truth on purpose. You have been corrected several times but only now chose to apologise. You're welcome.

Tell me this sunshine. Do you know how many Palestinians have been killed and wounded since Oct 7th?

    27,000 children have been orphaned.

Your Al Jazeera tracker is for the whole year by the way (7-Oct-23 to 29-Oct-24) Not just October 7th. At least understand what you are looking at.

Oh go on then, I'll bite…

You may have missed much of the debate over the last 100 pages of this thread and however many pages of the previous thread plus the pager thread.

But to say that "10 to 15 posters jumped in to defend Hamas…" is just ludicrous. As is "no-one caring about the innocents in Gaza."

For me and others, it all about caring for the innocents in Gaza.

I couldn't care less for Israel - its not about "defeat" - they will not be defeated with all the firepower they have and an apparently unending supply of weaponry.

As for your second-to-last sentence, you've reached the very bottom of that hole mate. Really, you have.

Do you believe that the beheaded babies story, the baby in the oven story was true or used to justify the killing of civilians in Gaza? Do you believe the IDF killed its own citizens on October 7th?

Sheepy's Al Jazeera link provides the numbers killed and wounded since Oct 7th. He is so helpful.

Palestinians killed in Gaza = 43,020

Palestinians injured in Gaza = 101,110

Palestinians killed in West Bank = 763

Palestinians injured in West Bank = 6,250

Why do you believe a Hamas surrender would end the suffering of the people in Gaza?
Palestinians have been suffering at the hands of Israel before Hamas was created and in places Hamas does not exist.

    Israeli attacks have damaged:

    • More than half of Gaza’s homes (damaged or destroyed)
    • 80 percent of commercial facilities
    • 87 percent of school buildings
    • Healthcare facilities so 17 of 36 hospitals are partially functional
    • 68 percent of road networks
    • 68 percent of cropland

7000 killed and wounded in West Bank since Oct 7th.

How would Sheepy justify that I wonder?

    Good questions - truthfully, I don't know the truth, I wasn't there.

In all three cases you mention, reputable news organisations have debunked both babies stories and have noted that the IDF are likely to have killed Israeli citizens. Zaka and their vested interest (in terms of garnering donations) makes their claims suspicious, the fact there were no babies (or only one baby) in the Kibbutzim mentioned, the rowing back of Biden seeing images of beheaded babies etc.

The first casualty of war is the truth. But Israel have time and again (and not just since Oct 7th) proven themselves to be consummate liars.

So, until I see further evidence to the contrary, the beheaded babies and babies in ovens, I believe are untrue.

A read a recent report that interviewed IDF members who said they were ordered to fire on anything that moved back toward Gaza, and they did. Whether that was the implementation of the Hannibal Directive, I don't know. I've not seen any reports of how those recovered by Israel were killed or details on who was killed by whom. I don't think that matters TBH. There are always, regrettably, friendly fire incidents in war.

What is clear however is that what Hamas did on Oct 7th was abhorrent.

What is Israel has done since is abhorrent.

The word abhorrent does not cover what Israel continues to do - only Genocide would cover that.

EDIT: I certainly do believe, as has been widely reported, that Israel has repeatedly issued reports that are lies, solely to justify killing civilians. They have equally suppressed to truth (no reporters) to hide their crimes. And that's not just Gaza - that is Lebanon too. It is their modus operandi - has been for years.

Also, the regime (and their supporters) say there will never be a Palestinian state. So not only have they to surrender, but they have to accept there will never be a free Palestine and their role is be permanently subjugated by Israel.

You're right to point that out.

I posted "Estimates of a over a month ago put the overall dead at nearly 190,000. That has undoubtedly climber higher now the starvation plan has gained traction."

That was unclear and facts are facts. You've summarised and clarified it better than my clumsy effort.

I was sent an interesting little titbit today. According to this website, births in Israel dropped like a brick between January and February this year - a sudden drop of around 10% - and continued to gradually decline at least up to July this year. Remember that this decline could not be due to men being away from home, as it happened around 4 months after the breakout from Gaza; births from July onwards may well be affected by absence due to Israeli military operations, or even because of uncertainty regarding the future.

There have been plenty of claims of high numbers emigrating from Israel in the aftermath of Hamas' attack on Israel. If 10% of pregnant women decided to emigrate and this 10% was reflected throughout Israeli society, it could translate into as many as 1 million emigrants if it applied across the board.

What future have they got as a society? They seem totally screwed for many years to come - the Palestinians and the Lebanese can still hold their heads high.

It won't matter as long as the US keep providing them with diplomatic cover- there literally seems to be noting Israel can do for their support to be withdrawn. No country that has good relations with the US will arrest Bibi.

Palestinians embracing diplomacy doesn’t really matter as long as Likud are in power.

We see clear evidence of this through their aggressive actions in the West Bank. Indeed Bibi advocated for keeping Hamas sweet in order to undermine the PA and talk of a two state solution.

So if there is not a credible Palestinian voice that suits the Israeli right perfectly fine.

However there is someone far more popular than Abbas is who could bring people with him, but it suits both Bibi and Abbas to keep him in Jail.

No Dief is dead. He was killed in an Israeli airstrike a few months back.

Yes the UNRWA move was in fact an own goal for a nation defending itself against the charges at the ICJ, but I think through American pressure that law will not be enacted .

I think the numbers will be ultimately irrelevant. If 50,000 people manage to make it out of Gaza alive, we'd get the zionists (including those on here) telling us that there were only 60,000 there to begin with.

The storyline of "sure there were no Palestinians there anyway, and sure anyway there is no such thing has a Palestinian" has already played out ad nauseum in relation to the violent and criminal establishment of the zionist state.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,165 ✭✭✭spaceHopper

I get that it's a very unequal state, and I get that Israel's actions help recruit fighters for Hamas. But it doesn't take a genius to work out that Hamas barley got 50% of the vote in 2006, there hasn't been an election since. If they were that popular then they'd easily win. And their actions on the 7th of October crossed a line and was only ever going to start a full scale war that Israel would win. There is no good outcome for Gaza in this. Hamas threw the whole population of Gaza under a bus.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 837 ✭✭✭Sir_Name

Sorry, I am genuinely trying to understand your post. What are you trying to illustrate by asking if we have seen photos of Gaza prior to Oct 7th?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,773 ✭✭✭✭Tony EH

Perhaps. But that bus was waiting just a few yards down the street with the engine revving and was more than willing to drive over them. The driver was just looking for the excuse.

Hamas may have have provided that excuse, but now the world's eyes are focused on the region and just how rapacious, venal and egregious Israel is. Anyone who isn't a morally degenerate animal is looking at Israel in absolute disgust because of what they are doing. It is now a pariah state in the minds of decent people, even those who have never even spared a single thought about the Palestinian issue before last year.

In the end Hamas got their result.

But it's not ludicrous. You could go back and count them up.

As for people lionising Sinwar. Obvioulsy not a Hamas supporter.

There is a consistant pattern to defend Hamas, if not outrightly, then via expressing their suport for their 'right to resist'. It's repetitive and transparent. Clare Daly uses the same pattern all the time.

Not a single person, most of whom must be Irish, agreed that a Islamic Jihadist terrorist organisation should quit it's utterly pointless war.

    That's the simple truth.
