Adding Dyness batteries to existing setup?

    Hey all,

I have a couple of Dyness B4850 2.4kWh batteries with a Sofar inverter in about a year. I’m considering getting a couple more to bring me up to 10kWh.

They’re much cheaper bought direct so I’m wondering if it’s as simple as adding them into the existing series of batteries or if there is configuration work required that cannot be done by the home owner?

    Any thoughts, thanks!

Should be very straight forward, you just daisy chain them with the existing ones.

If you have a few connected just follow the same pattern

I guess I'm wondering if the other batteries or the inverter need to be told about the new batteries, or when I power it all back up will they be automatically detected over the comms cable?

Correct, once you also link the data cables between the batteries the inverter will know

OK that sounds painless thanks, I'll see what shipping to Ireland is like and go from there!

Hi, just wonder if you followed any procedure, seen few pylontech batteries being added but no instructions how to proceed initially, did you balance it first with other 2, charged it on it's own or just added it and let the BMS do it work?

It's generally advised to have them all at the same state of charge when adding more, but the BMS would balance them over time. I would fully charge everything and then connect them together, or connect and force charge the pack until all full.
