Is there any TV service (besides Sky Satellite) that allows recording of live TV

We are a long time Sky customer but I would love to switch to get a better deal. Unfortunately recording (and pausing) live TV is a must have for us. I have seen from several posts on here that some of the newer internet services don't allow recording of channels like BBC and RTE. Are there any other services besides Sky which allow recording (and pausing) of live TV on all channels?

It very much depends upon what channels you want. You can point a Satellite dish at 28.2e and use an Enigma2 receiver with a Hard Drive to watch/pause/record all the Freesat content available. That won't receive RTE or other Irish channels but, you can use a combi box version to receive both the UK Freesat channels via satellite & Irish channels via terrestrial tuner.

If you want payTV your options are really to use Sky or Apps.

Thank you for the reply. I will look into the channels available from a combo box.

Using a box like a Zgemma H7S with twin sat feeds give you 2 sat tuners for recording and live viewing.

If your leaving a Sky Q service more likely lnb will need to be changed.

Box has a Saorview tuner and hopefully your tv has a Saorview tuner then use box to record and view on tv.

Do you live on your own at home or is there another adult. We closed my Sky Q account and signed up in the wifes name and got the new customer deal. Only catch is you get a new box so your recordings will be gone

If you have a hybrid lnb you can add a box like Zgemma H7S twin sat + Saorview

Box would need twin sat feeds and an aerial for Saorview if interested.
