Surprised there's not a thread on this already. Or at least I couldn't find one. If you have seen the first one this is even better in my opinion. There's some genuine creepy moments and some awfully big jump scares. Naomi Scott (she of Jasmine from Aladdin fame) is near unrecognisable as the Lady Gaga copy who has fallen foul of the curse. She's also excellent as playing someone gradually losing her mind. Trailer is below but for bonus points can anyone guess who's the nepo baby at 1:33?

Great opening too. Naomi Scott the best thing about it.

Went to this last week and really enjoyed it. Similar to the substance you get a critique of celebrity culture mixed with the general horror. It feels like this is also one of the better Halloweens for new horror.

Goes to show how opinions differ. I was disappointed in this and thought the first one was better.

I won't spoil the ending at all but I did go into the film hoping the ending will be anything but what I had in my mind, so it wouldn't be predictable. Unfortunately for me, it ended exactly how I thought before I started watching.

It did have great parts, and not so great. I think for the originality the first edges it for me.

I wouldn't tell people not to watch it, but I wouldn't watch it again, and I enjoy watching films multiple times if I think they're well made.

I was surprised to find that this one is just as good as the first if not better, the only negative would be that it's similarly structured in terms of progression to the original.

But it does deal with an entirely different victim this time around, a celebrity in the public eye, so it's fun to see it all play out in that context.

Naomi Scott really made the movie, she was phenomenal. I've never heard of her before but she knocked this one out of the park and I hope it's a big launch pad for her.

Like the first, plenty of chills, scares and even a few laughs. Cinematography is top notch as well. Overall it's a big thumbs up from me, better than 90% of the drivel that gets labelled as horror.

Much better than the first one IMO, which was unremarkable bar a few solid jump scares.

Naomi Scott was absolutely incredible.. been a long time since I've seen someone on screen appear convincingly terrified for a 100 minute runtime.

I didn't like the ending but it was always going to be hard to stick the landing here I think.. although I did like that even though it's inevitable there'll be a sequel, that ending could happily serve as a closure to the series tbh.

    Much recommended!

I agree that Naomi Scott was incredible and without her performance the movie wouldn't be half as engrossing

I really liked it until the third act when I felt the story lost its momentum and tried to tackle more than it could handle narratively. But that being said, it has some great set pieces and it is a recommendation from me. Also, if Naomi Scott's exact performance were in a drama about a pop star battling personal demons, an Oscar nomination would be almost guaranteed, but just because the genre of this movie is horror, the Academy will most probably ignore her excellent performance.

The film is rightfully getting praised but I don't think I will bother with a third movie unless it gets rave reviews. Just found it a bit annoying that the middle of the movie seemed to be full of sequences that were just the imagination of the afflicted. I felt the first film was a bit better in respect of the victim figuring things out.

Naomi scott was great though in it.

I liked the original and this was a thoroughly enjoyable sequel. Had an itch about the ending early on about the lead character and the creature and it was spot on. I think Naomi Scott's performance was what elevated it above the popcorn fare it would have been otherwise.

Would be interested in maybe one more but the director is talking about a whole franchise.

Thought it was a great sequel, very enjoyable. Naomi Scott was very watchable. I went on Monday afternoon. Had the whole Luxx screen in my local cinema to myself.

Only saw the first one a week ago, it's good but so clearly borrows from the superior " It Follows"

Wasn't mad about original, so wasn't expecting much, but definitely a superior effort, if indeed stealing from above mentioned film.

Kept me entertained right through. Naomi Scott's performance definitely made this film a notch above what it could have been.
